Mrs. Quinn, a lifelong of Tampa, was the great granddaugh: ter of Florida pioneer Captain William Brinton Hooker. After serving as Tampa's Supervisor of Public Recreation for many years, she opened the first nursery school in the City of Tampa in 1928. Mrs.

Quinn was lovingly and tirelessly devoted to teaching South Tampa's children for 60 years at her school, Play Haven. She was a member of local and national early childhood associations and served on the board of The Lighthouse for the Blind. She was dedicated to mainstreaming sightless children into her preschool program, and for many years her summer program was set up solely for these children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Norman Quinn; brother Jimmy Steele; sister, Ella Rose Groves; and granddaughter, Deena Rae Sanders.
