All free to you, By Diann Beetlar Conekpondonl CENESEO A member of the Craun family, separated from his brothers and sisters In Henry County 45 years ago. has died before being reunited with his family. Frank Craun, 59, of Marion, Ind. died of a heart attack Sunday morning, said his sister, Jean Melton of Geneseo. She said he was hospitalized last week when the NBC television program, "Unsolved Mysteries," aired an account of how members of his family had been evicted from their Henry County farmhouse and then separated in December, 1948.

As a result of the program, all but one of the Craun siblings has been located. "It's really a shock. We were planning on going up there In a couple of weeks to see him," said Ms. Melton, adding that financial considerations will prevent her from attending the funeral. She hopes to visit her brother's thrco daughters later.

"They aro family, and I want to know them." Ms. Melton said she talked to her brother on the telephone for a few minutes when she learned of his whereabouts. "He said that he had been looking for us for a long time, and that he could give me a lot of answers." He told her their mother. Hilda, did not sign any papers giving away her children. Hilda and Frank Craun Sr.

apparently were ordered never to see the children who had been taken from them, Ms. Melton said. She said "Unsolved Mysteries" plans to film the reunion of the Craun siblings, but no date has yet been set. Family members, however, don't want to wait long, said Ms. Melton.

"Forty-five years is too long a time to wait. When you know where they're at, you don't want to wait too long. Anything could happen. Look at what happened with Frank." But she does have some consolation. "It was one of his wishes that he could find his family, and he did.

He didn't get a chance to meet us, but he got to talk to us. His wish had been answered." 764-4022 i EAST MOLINE A Moline woman arrested Friday afternoon on suspicion of felony retail theft was being held this morning in the Rock Island County Jail, a jail spokesman said. Last January, the Quad Cities Regional Economic Development Authority rescinded its prelimi Substantial Savincsrln hvery Demrtmep LACOMARCINO'S nary approval of Dial's request for $11,264 million in bonds for a shopping center called Riverplace Centre at the same location. QCREDA board chairman Charles C. typically generate more sales per square foot than smaller ones, he said.

That project, Mr. Smith said, would have been built with local labor and created about 350 jobs. At that time, Mr. Smith said the company had resolved a wetlands issue with the Corps of Engineers by agreeing to create a "water detention cell" along 7th Street and two others along 43rd Avenue to replace wetlands. Tuesday's city council agenda includes a resolution to authorize city staff to pursue a business development agreement with Dial Cos. of Omaha, said city administrator Al Efflandt.

The firm, he said, hopes to develop a shopping center that includes an Eagle Food Center, a Kohl's department store and a Target discount store. Although the property is not in a Tax Increment Financing district, the developer's requested agreement with the city would provide for a rebate of sales taxes from the stores, Mr. Efflandt said. The firm is seeking the financial help because soil conditions are such that extraordinary costs will be encountered to develop the site, which is west of Menards home center south of John Deere Road, according to the city council agenda. Although ending its involvement with the project, QCREDA officials welcomed the company to reapply for the bond financing at a later date. Dial representative David Smith called that project a "power center," with a concentration of large retailers rather than a high number of shops.
