delta diary SHAW--Mr. and Mrs. Louis Md were honored on their 40th wedding anniversary recently with a surprise reception at their home. Mrs. WendaU Parks of Oxford, Mrs.

Patrick Corley of Manchester, and Mrs. David Huddleston of High Ridge, daughters of the couple, and their husbands, were hosts and hostesses for the party. Mrs. Mei wore a green dress with long sleeves. The refreshment table was centered with an arrangement of red carnations, white chrysanthemums and green foliage in a milk glass container.

Matching candle holders with white tapers flanked the arrangement. A tiered wedding cake topped with lily of the valley, was served with punch. Thirty members of the family attended during the appointed hours. Guests attended from Shaw, Leland and Cleveland. The Evergreen Garden Club met at Bonanza Sirlion Pit for a luncheon meeting recently.

Hostesses were Mrs. Carroll Schrock and Mrs. Donald Nickolson. Mrs. W.

L. Holloway, president, presided over the meeting. Plans for a flower show to be held in April were discussed. A civic project was also discussed. Mrs.

Erwin Henderson, program chairman, introduced David Lee, guest speaker. Wild flowers and blooming trees were described by the speaker. An arrangement of jonquils and greenery formed the centerpiece on the luncheon table. -'f HOLLANDALE--Girl Scout Troup 287 met recently at the home of Mrs. D.

A. Cole. Ginger Hill, president, presided. Julie Bagley gave the devotional. Doris Ann Cook led the group singing and Joyce Johnston led the group in the Girl Scout Pledge and Promise.

Members of the troop are doing research on customs, holidays and activities of different religions. A gift was sent to Gwen Ware, a member of the troop who underwent surgery recently. Refreshments were served to 12 members who attended the meeting. Mrs. Gerald Frey provided the refreshments.

Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Gamble honored their daughter, Monica, with a party on her 5th birthday recently. A "Wizard of Oz" theme was carried out and Monica's birthday cake was decorated with characters from the story. Guests were Renee Gamble, the honoree's sister, Meta Swain, Cathy Oberle, Stephanie Oberle, Marc Fratesi, Alyson Fratesi, Beth Bennett, Lynn Powers, Monique Bevalague and Denise Fisher.

Special guests were Mrs. John Formigoni, the honoree's grandmother, and Rose Marie Formigoni. Bettie Lu lxw, recent bride of Purvis Barry Switzer, was honored before her marriage with a linen and lingerie shower at the home of Mrs. Ted Filer in Woodlawn. Mrs.

Leon T. Klein was co-hostess for the party. The honoree wore a tangerine and white printed knit dress with a fitted jacket. She was presented a corsage of white carnations. After the gifts were opened and displayed, refreshments were served from a table covered with a lace cloth.

White carantions, chrysanthemums and natural foliage formed the centerpiece for the table. Special guests were Mrs. J. R. lxw and Mrs.

Purvis Switzer, mothers of the couple. Thirty-five attended the party. Founders program Sunday 20th Century Temple No. 652, Daughters of Elks, will have its first annual Emma V. Kelly Day program Sunday at 3 p.

m. in the Elks Home auditorium, 1818 E. Alexander St. in Greenville. Mrs.

Kelly was the founder of the Daughters of the Improved, Benevolent, Protective Order of Elks of the World. In addition to the memorial to the founder, this a i a Greenville High School seniors. Guest speaker will be Arthur Bennett Peyton, administrative assistant of the Greenville public schools. The public is invited to attend, according to Mrs. Johnnie H.

Richard Farrell, and Patti Pittman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Pittman. The pageant is sponsored by the Moorhead Rotary Club, according to Robert McClellan, president. Winner of the local pageant will enter -the Miss Mississippi Pageant held to select the state queen, who will then compete in the Miss America national competition in Atlantic City, N.
