He also flew through the anchor leg of the two-mile relay as the Jay hawk team was clocked in a winning time of 7:34.6. Ryun, who holds the world mile record (3:51.3) and the a i thrilled the overflow crowd in the two-mile relay event when he came from behind to pass Kansas State's Con Nightingale and Michigan's John Reynolds in his half-mile leg of the race. Ryun's time in the mile, athough it erased the old fieldhouse record of 4:04.9 set by Wes Santee in 1954, was eight-tenths of a secod slower than his fastest indoor time of i the new season.

Other individual records fell to hurdler Charles Pollard, who led Michigan State to the team I victory, distance runner Dick Sharkey also of Michigan State, George Washington, -Michigan State's low hurdler, and Ralph Schultz of Northwestern. Pollard set a new indoor American dirt track record in the preliminaries of the 70-yard high hurdles with a clocking of :08.2. His whining time in the finals was one-tenth of a second slower. Cincy Powell had 16 rebounds for ihe Braves. It was the second time Holland has beaten the Braves this season. The Carvers topped them 126-117 in an earlier game at the Civic Center. The victory was Holland's eighth in 17 games this season. The Carvers travel to Muskegon for a game with the NABL champion Panthers Wednesday.

They return for a home game with the Benton Harbor Sailors this Friday at 8:30 p.m. in the Civic Center. Former Carver player-coach Bob Wilkinson ignited a fourth quarter rally which gave the Grand Rapids Tackers a 115-107 victory over Benton Harbor at the Wyoming Godwin Fieldhouse Saturday night. Wilkinson hit for a three-pointer and six straight foul shots in the last period to pace the victory. The Sailors led 32-27 at the end of the first quarter, 57-53 at halftime and 85-77 at the three-quarter mark.

Ollie Johnson of Grand Rapids led all scorers with 30 points. Chicago's Porter Merriweather set a new NABL scoring record of 53 points, but the Bombers still lost a 128-125 decision to the Lansing Capitols at Lansing Saturday. Holland (143) Indians Take 82-69 Loss At Lawrence LAWRENCE Lawrence's command of the backboards aided it to an 82-69 win over Saugatuck in an Al-Van basketball game here Saturday night. Center John Marconi led the victors to a 68-34 edge in rebounding. Lawrence took the lead in the first quarter and stayed ahead the rest of the way.

It held leads of 24-16, 47-32 and 65-50 at the end of the quarters. Joe Capps paced Lawrence scoring with 27 points. Marconi added 19, and Terry Terrantino 13. Joe Milauckas notched 20 points and Ray Bekken 11 for Saugatuck. Lawrence hit 34 of 92 floor shots for 36 per cent while the Indians made 25 of 80 for 31 per cent.

Both teams hit 73 per cent of their free throws. Lawrence made 20 of 27 while Saugatuck had 19 of 26. Saugatuck's Al Van record dipped to 5-6 with the loss. The Indians are 6-7 overall. They host Lawton on Tuesday.
