Gulliver Peterson's Resort, Thunder Lake Mrs. Chittenden Taken By Death MANISTIQUE Mrs. Loren B. Chittenden, 62, of 233 Arbutus who had resided in Manistique since 1924. died at 7:50 p.

Belongie Payment Of Tolls At Welland Canal To Be Suspended WELLAND, (AP)-Prime Minister Diefenbaker announced at an election meeting Friday that payment of tolls on the allCanadian Welland Canal "is to be suspended immediately." He also announced that the government has decided to proceed quickly as possible with the twinning of the locks the Great Welland Canal" which bypasses Niagara Falls in the St. Lawrence Seaway route from the Atlantic through the Great Lakes.

"It will take many years to complete this huge construction project," he said. The government announced a few weeks ago that it was acquiring property around the canal the purpose of twinning single locks in the eight-lock canal. NEWBERRY Aged Newberry Resident Dies -Nestor Hendrickson, 80, of Newberry, died unexpectedly Friday morning at his home, 302 E. Truman Ave. Mr.

Hendrickson was born Aug. 22. 1881 in Karvia, Finland and had been a resident of Newberry since 1901. He had been ed during his early years as a woodsman, millworker, and as a butcher at the Newberry Co-operative Market. His wife.

Hilda, preceded him in death March 3, 1951. Survivors include a grandson, Dennis Hendrickson, and a ter-in-law, Mrs. Limpi Hendrickson, both of Newberry. The body was taken to the Beaulieu Funeral Home where friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 5 p. m.

Dundon Bridge Is Inspected new 176- NEWBERRY-The foot, 3-span bridge over the TwoHearted River on County Road 407 was approved by federal and state inspecting engineers here Thursday afternoon. A reception at the Dutch Mill was held in the afternoon and evening. Presented marriage by her father. the bride wore a white Chantilly lace and tulle gown. The lace bodice was designed with a sabrina neckline, dusted with tiny seed pearls and irredescent sequins. Long tapered sleeves came to an end over her wrists.

Alternating tiers of net and tulle over satin enhanced the hoop skirt ending in a chapel sweep, The bridal veil was finger-tip length and was attached to a crown of pearls. She carried yellow centered white orchids surrounded by lillies of the valley' and trailing ivy. Carol Gereau was her sisters maid of honor and Nancy Jo Gerou, cousin of the bride, and Evelyn Larson, friend of the bride, were bridesmaids. They wore identical gowns of aqua silk organza with white accessories and matching crowns. Their flowers were cascades of yellow and white daisies.

Bob Brier served his friend as bestman and Fred Neurohr cousin of the bride, and Ivan Buckmaster were groomsmen. John Cody and Bob Liss performed ushers duties. For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Gereau selected an embroidered mint green arnel jersey sheath with white accessories. The bridegroom's mother attended her sons wedding wearing a pink Irish linen sheath with white cessories.

When the young people return from their wedding trip they will reside at Sleepy Lagoon, Route 1, Gladstone. The bride is a graduate of Gladstone High School and Mr. Carlson graduated from Escanaba High School. Circuit Court Opens Monday At Newberry NEWBERRY Circuit Court for Luce County will convene here on Monday, June 25. The jury has been notified to appear at 10 a.m.

Fawn Survives Auto Mishap NEWBERRY A little fawn born at 11:30 p. Wednesday, when its mother was struck by a car, has the run of the kitchen at the Willis Brawley home, on Point LeBarbe, near St. Ignace, and after a few days will be taken to a new home at the Cusino conservation camp. The mother was killed when she was hit by a car driven by Glenn Brawley. Mrs.

Brawley used her electric hair dryer to dry and warm the little fawn after the accident. By 9 a. Thursday, the fawn was able to stand on its feet and walk. Police Report Dennis Hoffman and Charles Zehe of Newberry were arrested by Michigan State Police larceny of a power saw from Clarence Roach. They were arraigned before Justice F.

Whitmarsh, charged with simple latceny, pleaded guilty, and both were assesed fines of $45. Hoffman serves 10 days in jail, if his fine is not paid he serves an additional 20 days. Zehe was given a 5 jail sentence, if his fine is not paid within that time, he too, serves another 20 days. Speeding tickets were issued to Miles Abbott of Skokie, Robert Robe, Milwaukee, Jack Lunsden, Notovo, John Hartz. Menominee, Helmut Bittner of Thomas Bridges, improper parking on the highway, Phillip McNutt of Perkins, defective brakes.

Winton D. Chinard of Spring Lake Michigan, driving on M-135 north of Curtis, struck and killed a deer at p. m. Wednesday. Damages to his car were estimated at $150.
