Ill, W. Main St. Last Evening's Mail brings us very bad news of the Elections from the Northwest. We had feared as much from the ambitious aspirations of our friends in many of the counties. In MONONGALIA, Andrew Brown, elected, Vine Democrats and two Whigs runniag.

Loss. In PRESTON, Fairfax, is elected. In MARION, Haymond. Whig, is elected. Loss.

Ia TAYLOR, Burden, Whig, is elected. In WOOD and RITCHIK, J. M. Stephenson, Whig, is elected, though he was run by both parties solely as an advocate of Western intertjsls Loss In HARRISON, Duncan, Whig, slips in between four Democrats. Loss.

In BROOKE, Thomas Bambrick, elected without opposition. In MARSHALL, Oldham, elected over Pollock, by 21 votes. In TYLER, Horner, slips in between two Democrats. Loss. Nett loss six members, equivalent to twelve votes.

It the rest of the counties vote as they did last year, we shall have lourteen majority in the lower House. But we know not what wild pranks the other Western counties may play, and we are therefore not quite so sanguine of the State, as before we received yesterday's Northern mail. The account current stands thus: Last Winter we bad twenty-six majority in the House. We have lost Hanover, Charlotte, Williamsburg, Fairfax, Monongalia, Marion, Harrison, Wood and Ritchie, and We have gained Nansemond, Fauquier (I) and Appomattox, (new At the last session there was a Democratic majority of 10 in the Senate. Of the nine members now elected, we hear of the election of two Democrats and three Whigs, (of whom Colonel Parriott, in the Wheeling district, makes a Whig gain.) Three others will certainly be Democrats and one doubtful, (Kanawha.) If this last should send a Whig, our majority in the Senate will be eight.

We yei think ihat we have carried the State. 1 HALF-PIPE Sazerac 1808 Brandy, received and for sale bv April 28 WM. M. HARRISON, Madison House. MRS.

THE subscribers, under ihe firm of GEORGK WA l' have established in ihe city ol Richmond a Manufactory of just below Mr. James llarden's Livery Stables, on Franklin street. As they a confident o( offering a Plough really improved, and worihy of patronage, they ask an attentive reading ol the following description and recommendation ot Watt's Cctf-Bralb and Gcaok, on Centre Dbaugiit Ploioii, This Plough was invented and patented a lewyears ago by Mr. Walt, a native ot Hano- ver, hut at the a resident ol Alabama. As little effort has been heretolore made to introduce it to the public through the press, its excellencies are known to comparatively lew.

It however, one essential evidence stands weli. at home. ihe peculiarities in the construction ot this Plough the mould-board is fastened to Hi'; sule, instead ol the of the beam; a I cuil or square staple is made to embrace the oeam, the ends penetrating ihe extending upright or helve ol ihe whole being i secured together by screws and nil is. The post" tion ol ihe to one side, and out ol the plane ot ihe toould-boaid, makes ii less liable to cnoke. 1 lie beam, having no bolt or mortice through it, is stronger and more simple; and, shon'd break' it may be renewed at less expense.

The handles are straight, (as well as the beam,) except at the upper ends, and Iasiened in ihe usual manner, with screws and bolts, to the heel of ihe Plough' These bolls serve pivots, on which the woodwork turns; when the screws ot ihe cuff? those two fastening ihe louerends of the handles, and ihe one fastening the beam io the handle? are slackened, and ihe handles are pressed, ihe beam moving freely through the cufi, the hind part is lowered and the iront ihe Plough is made to run deep or shallow, as circumstances require. Again: by driving down ihe wooden peg in the groove between the beam and helve (or upiight) ot the mould-board, when Ihe screws are slack, the beam is turned to ihe lurrow and ihe point of the Plough 10 the land By drawing the key back, and tightening ihe screws, it is giving or taking away land to suit small or large corn, This makes it strictly the Guage or Centre Draught Plough. To guage or centre draught a plough is to bring ihe connecting point ihe bar (or swingle tree) and dives in a straight line, drawn Irom a point ol the animal's shoulder (where the droit is taken) to the centie ot resistance on ihe mould-board; thus, if a irom ihe centre of resistance, through the connecting point ot ihe dives and bar, should strike above ihai point ol ihe shoulder, the plough would run loo deep; it below, too shallow; it to ihe right, it would not lake the land; to the left, it would take loo much. Hence the greal importance of guagitig 1 or centre-draughting the Plough, instead of altering tne back baud, which is often necessarily p.it so tar back as io throw ihe buithen upon ihe accoiding to ihe structure of the horse, never designed a weight to be carried. Last, though rtry important, I this Plough cannot alter from' the set given to it by the ploughman, unless it cannot lose or gain either land or draught, but re- mains permanent.

That these properties belong to this Plough, is attested by certificates from getT- I ilemen of intelligence in Hanover, King Wil- 1 liam. New Kent and City, already pub- lished by us a han of Those certificates art? loo numerous to append to this si- ready extended notice, we can only reter (he en- quiring public to (hem siWaining all that we have said of the implement. Christian, Braxton Garlick, Miles Eggleston, Richard A. Hunley, Henrv D. Via, Benjamiii Tyrce, Thomas French, Anderson King, Havel Ellys.in, Temple Illicit, Mitchell Adams, George Carter and Richard Atkinson, most of this community will recognize large, practical and successtui larmeis, whose ord and judgment may be confidently relied upon. The patentee of ihe Plough, an experienced mechanic, may be found generally at the estab- i lishmeni, and will take pleasure in explaining i its principles to all who wish to understand them. A card ol simple directions will accompany the I Plough it desiied.

We have experienced blacksmiths, and every reasonable effort will be made to turn off good work. We request ilie agiicultural community to extend to us a share of patronage. This Plough, two years ago, received a pre mium of fiom the Hanover Agricultuial Society, and lasi Fall, though no premium was fend, the Henrico Agricultural Society, at the rteomvunJaluni of the Committee, awarded a siltvr initial to the paten tee. It is our purpose to have constantly on hand a full supply ol the above Plough, ot all with wrought or cast points, and of the most improved kinds, all of which we expect to sell as low as ordinary Ploughs are sold iu the City market. We offer for sale rights of counties in Virginia, remote from the City ot Richmond i of other Slates.
