Nancy Sinclair is back in California.

So what happens? Karen Prunczik, who plays the Ginger Rogers' role in this current "42d Street" musical, told Merrick, "I can do it. I know the role." So Monday night, another actress went on as a featured player and came off a star. P.S. Prunczik happens to be Wanda Richert's roommate and, over the weekend, was coached in the role by roomie Wanda. To be continued! SHIRLEBRITTES Dinah LOLLY'S However, Merrick brought Sinclair back to New York in time for the Wednesday matinee.

The sga of Nancy Sinclair and "42d Street" Some three weeks ago, Sinclair married Jeff Neidercorn, who came back to New York with her and sat In the front row for each of her shows. Saturday night was her last performance before she had to return to California. Toward the end of that night's performance, I am told, Mrs. Neidercorn asked the stage manager to hold the final curtain so that she could bring her husband up on stage to take a bow. The cast was aghast and explained how unprofessional this was, since Neidercorn had nothing to do with the performance the audience was applauding.

of Sear on One-Wee ing for his new film, "Special Effects," has been dating an absolutely gorgeous woman. Her name: Catherine Deneuve. Well, can you blame our John Boy? Come to think of it can you blame Catherine Deneuve? THAT'S SHOW BUSINESS: The current hit musical, "42d Street," based on the 1933 hit movie of the same name, is a backstage story about an understudy in a Broadway musical, who, when the leading lady takes sick, goes on in her place opening night and becomes a star. Well, that same situation happened for real a week ago when Wanda Richert, the leading lady of "42d Street," suddenly became ill and her understudy, Nancy Sinclair, had to go on for her. The only difference between the theatrical version and the real thing is that David Merrick canceled the next night's performance because standby Sinclair had officially left the show a few days earlier to go to California because of her involvement in a child custody suit.
