Plainville and Newtonville with light and power, yesterday had exhausted its coal supply and threatened to shut down unless two carloads of coal in the Pennsylvania and DeCorsey yarde could be released at once for its immediate use. G. Sederbers communicated with County Coal Director Fred Edgington. Chilo, Ohio, and the matter was referred to Assistant Coal Administrator L. A. Walton, Milford, A telegram was forwarded to Homer E.

Johnson, State Fuel Administrator, outlining the situation and requesting that Cars 62.187 and 62,547 in the Pennaylvania, yards nt Rosedale, and Cincinnati, consigned to the M. and L. Railway, be released at once. The M. and operates cars also between Madisonville and Blanchester, and the shortage of coal probably will mean the tying up of traffic unless Immediate relief is forthcoming.

Undue intimacy with intoxicating liquor caused Patrolman Carl Lemperle, First District, to be stripped of his traps by Sergeant McNeal. Lemperle failed to show up before Chief Copelan yesterday morning, as ordered.

Lemperle was "put on the carpet" several months ago for making an unjustified arrest. FACTORIES AND BUILDINGS. PROTEST EXPECTED Against Parole of Increasing Num- bers of Convicts From "Pen." With the unusually large number of applications for parole from the State Penttentiary, and the many releases which have been granted by the State Board of Administration, Hamilton County officials are beginning to keep a closer tab upon these applications. Among the list of Hamilton County prisoners who, will come up before the board after or the first of the year is Harold E. GIll.

GIll is serving an indeterminate term for having obtained $160 by false pretenses from a woman in a fraudulent real estate deal, and there are four similar Indictments pending against him. He was convicted December 1. 1916, and this was affirmed by Court of Appeals February 13 last. Another applicant is William Lane, victed of second-degree murder December 12 last. He was charged with having shot and killed Joseph Sorrell when on the river front.

Charles Minor, a third applicant, had to face two Indictments--assault to kill and robbery. He pleaded guilty of robbery, February 8, 1915, and was sentenced to the "pen." Still another applicant is Charles Stetfins. The records show a Charles Steffins pleaded gullty to a charge of assault to rob, September 23, 1915, and was sentenced to the Reformatory, One negro woman is among the applicants. Nettie Poindexter, charged with second-degree murder for killing Louis Uta, February 9, 1916, and convicted of manslaughter, November 22, 1916, She now is in the penitentiary for women, at Marysville, Ohio. Protests probably will be sent by Prosecuting Attorney John V.

Campbell against the release of some of these applicants. GOLDEN EAGLE GIFT To Cincinnati Zoo- Caught By Farmer at Dillsboro, Ind, Andrew E. Cook, 2991 Werk road, saved a beautiful golden eagle from death a few days ago. He was visitIng at Dillaboro, when Y. Luke, resident of that town, caught the eagle in a steel trap he had set for chicken hawks.

The farmer had intended to have the bird killed and mounted, but the Cincinnati visitor prevailed upon him to present it alive to the Cincinnati Zoo. It was received there yesterday and is declared by General Manager Stephan to be a full-grown eagle and. an unusually good specimen. The bird now is.on exhibition in the eagle cage. The eagle, fortunately, was caught by the toes of one foot only and was not injured.

Yesterday was "free day" for children at the Zoo. The two leopards born a few days ago were on exhibition for the first time. The Zoo is open every day In the year. The animal buildings are all heated. OHIO IS ADMITTED To Registration Area of the Federal Census Department.

SPECIAL DISPATCH TO THE ENQUIRER. Columbus, Ohio, November has been received from Washington Dr. John E. Monger, State Registrar of Vital Statistics, that Ohio has been admitted to the registration area of the Federal Census Department. Dr.

Monger has been laboring for this recognition for many months, feeling sure that recent perfection of gathering vital ranted the inclusion. careful survey statistics by the Buckeye, State warwas made by Federal officials, who concluded that registration of births and deaths is sufficiently accurate to justify admission. The 14-states now included are the New England States, Pennsylvania, New York, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois and Delaware. CINCINNATIAN NAMED Among Four Ohioans in Navy Win Promotions. New York, November Secretary Daniels has just announced the promotion of 124 enlisted men of the navy to temporary warrant officers. Natives of Ohio included in the list of those advanced are: Walter Hinton, Van Wert, to boatswain, Navy Aero Station, Pensacola, Florida. William F. Skyles, Greene County, to machinist, naval aviation detail, Hampton Roads, Va. Eugene Scherer, Sandusky, to gunner.

Millan street, trackman employed by Cincinnati Traction Company, died at the General Hospital yesterday as a result of injuries sustained November 22, when he was struck by an automobile when at Gilbert avenue and Morris street. Haas was the sixty-first victim of an automobile accident in Hamilton County since January 1. SIXTEEN JOBS FOR WOMEN. New York, November -A call for women. chauffeurs, to drive motor trucks and ambulances in this city, was sent out to-night by the National League for Women's Service.
