PAGE FOUR Referendum On Mm To Be Voting Places Named For Counties Of This Area A national referendum to determine whether marketing quotas will be in effect for the 1959 wheat crop will be conducted among 38 states by wheat growers in Cass and adjacent counties today. The polling centers are to be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and all farmers who have more than 15 acres of wheat for harvest as grain in 1959 are eligible to vote.) ASC officials point out Chat the! vote is for marketing quotas, not wheat allotments. Even if the quotas are not approved by the necessary two-thirds vote, wheat acreage allotments will remain in effect as a means of determining grower's eligibility for price support, it is stated by Nelson M.

Barr, chairman of the local ASC committee. If the quotas are approved, price support be at 75 per cent of parity. If r.hey are not su-pport will drop to 50 per cent of parity. National list price 589.95 you pay 399.00 By ANNE HEYWOOD WHENEVER I hear the words "She's just too unselfish for he own good," I shudder involun tartly, for they usually describi a woman, who Is either a blemaker or a martyr. In many volunteer organizations, there are such women They work virtuously and hard boss everybody around, head up "cliques" and tell people off for their own good. They can ruin morale and ruffle dispositions better arid faster than anything else I know.

In Families This type is found hi many families, too. They are the martyrs who complain that nobody appreciates them in spite of' their many sacrifices $nd they succeed In giving everybody else an unjustiflec guilt complex. For years, I used to think that such women were just plain horrible. But as I got older and I like to think, wiser, I learned that nobody is really bad. When they do seemingly bad things there is always a reason.

Also, found it is easy, as well as more compassionate, to look for the reason. As a rule, these women need to feel needed, but are aiming to get this feeling by directing their energies into the wrong channels. Need To Be Uaoful All of us need to feel needed, to be useful members of the human race. If we direct our energies along the lines of our true abilities and interests, we TV-ill achieve this feeling the right way. But if we channel our energies along the wrong lines, doing things we do not enjoy and are not good at, we become querulous, irritating, making martyrs.

It doesn't matter how many cooks our church fair needs. If we are terrible cooks who hate kitchens, we will not be "unselfish" by volunteering a's a cook. We will so unnerve the other cooks that the broth will be spoiled! Review Your If you feel unappreciated to spite of "being so "unselfish," you'd better review your actions, whether in volunteer work or It's Not "Unselfish" To Bo What You're Not Fitted For. he bosom of the family, and ask 'ourself some serious questions: First, does your work use your ibilities? Patients Careless Because diabetes no longer is the serious threat to life it once was, many patients tend to ignore much of the physician's advice, and, in some cases, they even ignore the physician.

While many diabetics rigidly carry out insulin therapy, they completely neglect a prescribed Such disregard for medical advice in many cases, to blindness. Major Cause According to the National Society for the Prevention of Blindness, only glaucoma and cataract lead diabetes as a major cause of blindness in this country. If proper management and regular, consistent treatment for the diabetic condition is maintained, many of these sight-stealing eye conditions can be prevented. S. Tassman, attending surgeon at the Wills Eye Hospital, Philadelphia, reports that it is the duration of the diabetes, not so much its severity at any particular time, that affects the retina of the eye. Since diabetics are living 1 longer these days, he points out, they are more prone to retinal damage, cataract and blindness than non-diabetics of the same age group. Other We think that emotional stress and strain also play an mportant role in the development of an eye condition by a diabetic. About 1,000,000 Americans are known to have diabetes.

Probably about more lave it but don't know It. All in all, an estimated 4,750,000 persons alive today will de- 'elop diabetes during their llfe- ime. Conceivably, you could ie one of them.
