He Diily Reporter, Dover, 0. March 1966 French Politics To Be Featured DnCBSSpecia Friends, the French," a pfovocative, witty look at the rfpture in Franco American relations that has been described as more than a quarrel and than a war, will be the Tjiesday news special at 10 p.m. on Channels 8-9. It will be broadcast in color. Eric Seva- reid will be the reporter.

Written and produced by Perry Wolff, the special, filmed on location in the fall of 1965, seeks to shed light on some of the seeming contradiction in the French character: the tendency, as one Frenchman has put it, for his countrymen to be at- iracted by the 2 extremes of Bonapartism or anarchy; the longing to relive the glories of the France 'of the 18th century and the realization that they are a country living in the middle of the twentieth century. Appearing on the broadcast, underscoring the differences among Frenchmen, are 2 men at opposite poles of the political spectrum, Servan Schreiber, journalist and a leading spokesman for the Gaul- list point of view, and his cousin, Jean Jacques Servan Schreiber, also a journalist and a leading spokesman for the opposition in France to President Charles de Gaulle and his policies. Also interviewed is Pierre Gallois, retired French Air Force general often described as father of the French atomic strike force." General Gallois details the theory that has become a cornerstone of of ficial French policy that such a force is necessary to overcome the "unnatural" state of affairs in Europe in which decisions made in Washington can determine the fate of France. Viewers will see, for the first time on American network television, films of the first generation French atomic weapon. It is 4 times as powerful as the bomb dropped on Hiroshima.

It is made to be carried in a French fighter bomber, the Mirage IV, a plane which would have to be refueled in mid-air by French government purchased American made tanker planes if it were to reach its tar get in time of war. Economist Jacques Rueff elaborates, unofficially, on what has become the French government's official position on gold and the balance of payments problem. It is a position that today finds some one third of a billion dollars in gold being moved physically out of United States government vaults into French government vaults a policy which it is said runs counter to all modern economic theory and practice as to the payment of debts between nations. Berle vs. Batman Milton Berle returns for a second time as guest- host on the Hollywood Palace colorcast tonight at 9:30 on Channel 5.

He welcomes television's brightest, new star Batman, portrayed by Adam West, who will join Berle in a skit on weekly variety spectacular.
