For the past three weeks that task has been an impossibility. Ann Harmeier ts (one and the more information that is found concerning the case, the harder it is to limply look at that information objectively. Each lead or possible lead raises hopes white at the same lime, other leach that didn't pan out. only depress further anotiani already at a low ebb.

The two men cooninating the drive to find Ann Harmeier, David Weston, and Ernie Alder, both are exhausted from Ibe thousands and thousands of telephone calls and personal visits people have paid wanting to know what they can do that hasn't already been done. The answer in every case is nothing. "We've accomplished what we set out to accomplish," said Alder. "We wanted to get this before the public and we've done exactly that." Weston agreed. "We accomplished our goals in getting Ann's picture and story before the public, I just hope it's done some good." But no one has gone through the agony and heartache that Ann's mother has gone through.

Marjorte Harmeier, through the entire ordeal, has been nearly imp! actable. "Oh, I have my moments," she said. "Sometimes I break dawn and other time I control my emotions rather well. Everyone has been so generous. 1 don't know how 111 ever be able to thank them all Mrs.

Harmeier and Rev. Rose Taul of the Presbyterian Church both traveled to Paducah, when it was teamed that Ann possibly could have been picked up by a car bearing McCracken County, license plates. Paducah is the county seal of McCracken County. The trip proved to be fruitless, however, Mrs. Harmeier has not given up hope, nor has she become convinced that everything has been done to pursue the lead about the possible Kentucky connection.

Ann supposedly was seen by two men who worked at the Paragon Deep Rock station. Both Wiilard Walt and Sam White. owner and employe at the station, told Indiana Slate Police and members of the Cambridge search Committee that they had spotted a woman fitting Ann's description in a Kentucky car. Accompanied by two men and two women, Ann reportedly was seen out of the car with the two women by the workers at the Deep Rock station. Wall slated that he thought it was curious for a girl wearing an Indiana shirt to be in a Kentucky car and that she dd fil the description of Ann Harmeier.

However, Indiana Stale Police staled that under repeated questioning on the case, Walt's and White's stories were inconsistent. ISP stated that they were not dropping the lead altogether. In any case, (he latest information brought a sharp rise to emotions of people in Cambridge City. Finally, they thought, here was a break. But, a week after the lead was discovered, nothing new oti Ann's whereabouts has been learned.
