State Auditor Goto Reports That an Examination Shows tho Concern to Bo All Right BLOOMraeTOX, 11L, April 1L Special Telegram. The proponed Legislative investi gation of tho Interstate Building ana Loan Associstloa of this eity, of whleh Vice President Stevenson is tho president, aad whleh is oae of the oldeat aad beet known of the many similar LnstitaUoaa of tba klad operating here, eaaaed a good deal of commotion la this eommuaity. Tho news was surprising. The examiners front tho Anditor's office had last completed their examination, and It ia new knows) bad made a favorable report The attack made by Mr. Loweothai's resolution apoa tbe president of ths association.

A. E. Steven son. Vice President of the United States, rendered It all the more sensational. Mr.

Stevenson was ooaflned to hia room today by a very severe eold, bat was ready to talk In regard to the associstloa and his connection with It He said: The Interstate Building snd Loan A elation is solvent This will sppear from the official statement of the Auditor whleh has Jast been completed. Of course, shareholders who are dissatisfied can. aa pro vided by statute aad tho by-laws of the ae-aoclation, present their certificates aad re ceive tbe amounts doe apoa thess. Any stockholder who desires to examine tne Dooas ana tne Joeas la at per fect liberty to do so. The affaire of the' company have last underrone careful examination by the officers from tbe Anditor's office with the result above stated.

I oereonallv know that thia com pany baa been maaaged with the greatest possible care aad atteatlon. I bare devoted a great deal of time to it myself, and know that the amounts paid to Mr. Ewing, my law partner, or that I at anv time have re ceived through him, were no more than jast eompeasauoa ior too services actually ndered. A great deal of labor haa beea performed In the mere matter of the iaation of abstracts of title for prepeeed loan. I need hardly add that la thcorrsut- satlon of the association, the preparation of forma, mach important and Labori ous tegai service waa rendered.

It is hardly to be supposed that tbe a vices I hsve enumerated. Involvlnr rrce! labor aad respoaslbilitv. eoald be rendered without reasonable equivalent Tbe mat ter of compensation for these services waa properly one of agree men I between the secretary aad the attorney. That the services indicated were valuable is mani fested by the past history and tbe present solvent condition of the association.1 "Are yoa yourself a borrower from the association I --No, sir; I am sot "Are yoa a large stockholder aad have your assessments beea paid ia fulit" "Yea, I awa near one haadred shares ef the stock, aad every assess men I has beea fullv paid." Have yoa at aay time withdrawn aay shares of stock from the association?" -I hare aot" la reply to a quest ioa Mr. Steveasoa said: "I am aaw receiving no compensation whatever from tbe association aad have not been for a asm ber of months.
