The unstoppable force of death, and also of endless sequels, is up to his old tricks in his latest chapter, "Friday the 13th, Part VI: Jason Lives" which manages to rehash the "Friday the 13th" series one more time without being too inventive. Things have changed slightly since the last time Jason was running about. Terror-ridden Crystal Lake has changed its named to Forest Green, obviously hoping Jason would be puzzled he's not. Resting nice and cozy in his grave, Jason gets disturbed by Tommy Jar-vis (Thom Mathews), who wants to leave no doubt the evil one is dead since the last time the two met.

With the help of a little lightning, Jason rises from the grave and decides to stretch his legs along with a few folks' arms, heads and bodies. Despite countless murders in the past, Forest Lake is just buzzing with activity. Would you believe a handful of counselors are arriving on the scene expecting a bus load of kids any minute? Ever thought about the mortality rate of counselors in this area? Just wondering. 1 Lucky for everyone, Jason stumbles onto a group of mock-military survival members who are equipped with blades, knives and other nifty cutting Leave it to Jason to decide what's mock and what's not. With tools in hand, Jason begins knifing through the immediate area while Tommy tries to round up some: help.

However, the local police jusi aren in the mood to listen to another nut case spouting off about Jason. While this is No. 6 on the "Friday the 13th" series, it's the first time out for director-writer Tom McLoughlin, who has made a few changes. Besides the usual slashing, McLoughlin has thrown in car crashes, underwater scenes and a few vain attempts at humor. While the first "Friday the 13th" was standard B-movie fare, Jason Lives" has a slicker look to it.

But there is no getting around the fact that Jason Lives" is another episode of a movie series that's getting pretty tiresome. mutilated bodies and blood splatter-, ing has become old hat. But give that hockey mask-covered guy this: while the slasher movies of the 1970's have died out Jason Lives. Correction Ocean Drive North's co-owner is Norfleet Jones.
