Kens, Irishmen by birth, members of the committee who have just presented to ths President of the United States the Memorial from Baltimore in behalf of Smith O'Brien and others, desire briefly to express, to the friends of the movement, their views on that occasion: tnereforc besolved, That they are deeply indebted to the Ame rica-i citizens bv birth for their warm sympathy and prompt co operation in the etibrts now being made in behalf of Mr. O'Brien and hi fellow prisoners.

HisolffJ, That the citizens by birth, from other countries than Ireland, deserve our thanks for having united with us in this humane enterprise. Resolved, That the honorable reception extended to the committee by the citizens of Washington can r.ever be forgotten by any of us. Not onlv have they di.stinjuished themselves for hospitality, and conferred upon each of us a deep ser.se of personal kindness, but. by their decided course upon this oocasion, tne inhabitants of the capi-al of this great country have pronounced signibo-ntly to ihe world the liigiuty ol the movement which we humbly represented. Rcsoirri, That oar honorable representative, Ths.

Yates Walsh, merits the thanks of his fsilow-eitizens, for his polite attention and thoughtful kindness on this occasion. Kesoh-ecl, That we feel honored and gratified by the reception of the Committee by the memhers of the Cahinet. and by the President of the United States in parfrular. We received from him the assurance that the Memorial should receive at his haniU the attention desired by those who had addressed it to him, and that he would as-ame the office of communicating its character and wishes to the government of Great Britain Xhis is all the Memorial asked, it could ask. The memorialists would nver have consented that the government of the United States should assert, a right or ask a favor from the government of Great Britain, connected with the destinies cf these prisoners, ma manner that might be calculated to hiz-ird the dignity of ourrepuo'ic.

The Irish adopted citizens of these United States have carefully abstained from any treasure that might lead to embroil ttiis country in conflicts abroad. The citizens or our great commercial cities and the people of our great States have, in enormous masses. expresseii tneu mte esr in tne tates tnesa genie men, and their hopes for their pardon They have hoped and believed that, if these expressions of feeling, emanating from such sources, were communi cated to the Queen of Great Britain, she, as the sovereign of a people claiming to be represent ed in their and as a lviy of humane and popular sympathies, would be swayed by them. The Memo-ri'a'iHts have thought the President to be the only proper orgau of conveying their wishes and hopes to the lneen of Great Britain- T' President lias assured the committee, that the Memorial, in its sentiments and purposes, and the Memorialists in their numbers and characters were deserving such a notice it his hands; "that the memorial contains suggestions which are entitled to weight with all just minds: and that, with those whom he is in the habit of consulting on important -questions, he will regard the prmcip'e srt by the great Father of his Country, in he c-i'ie of his companion in arms, Gen. La Fayette; and, that he will consider what can be dor a in aid oi our object, consisrenf I with such We are happy to assure cur Irish fellow citizens, and our generous friends of every c'ass, that tins is the state of things which we Lava flight, aud upon this state of things a'one have ur hopes for the sucn-ss of thin movement rented.

obituary Thedeafh of Miss ANNA MARIA ROCHE (winch event was recorded in yesterday', Sun) would seem to require, at lesst, a passing trioute from one who was favored with a long and intimate acquaintance with her, and who can bear testimony to a lawof Ihenianv distinguishing qualities tne possessed both of the mind and heatt. Such a void in the family not less than the social, circle, as her death has produced, it would be difficult to fill up. This is render ed still inr.ra iIpphIt ffiicfine when it is likewise con sidered that she was tne last survivor of three amiable sisters, whose deaths have scarce occurred six months apart a coincidence worth noting, since their iives were characterised by the clor.oit affinity and sisterly devction for eaoh other; and, ij would seem, ca they haa liinz conduced their lives, bo, in their deaths, they were not lon to be divided. Of minds formed soiiievi.r.t the recepLon of literary, general or histor.cal information, cviiverstAioa upon these inmeru, united tj a nigii oiueroi perce onion, renuereu their cooiety ever aitraclive, although there was a mild si.i-.-ity of manifest in a'l thoir actions tn a the writer hau oilsa occasion to observe in th esse of ttu sr.ojeai of th.snotioe. Few, in short, were gifted witft as high an oraer of intolieot, cr who, from the excellence cf their virtues, could command more lasting regard.

Much might be said illustrative of the virtues of deceased: utsuch would only bea woik of tl.cse who knew her esteemed her iu nnd t.ow that she is gathered to the iomb, will not fail to drop a tear over her memory. With other relatives who may feel the loss of her departure, none will take it more keenly or severely than a widowed mother who survives her, to whom the deceased was devotedly attached, and from whom she seemed the mr.Et unwil'ing to part. Let the consolation afforded by religion be a solace ar.d comfort to her in this time wel I throughout n(e. ir. I IIIIIWI aMMgMMWWMM IVTOTIOK.
