She could be cleared of the drug-possession charge if she serves her probation satisfactorily, Judge John T. Curtin of U.S. District Court said Friday. Anne Hearst, 19, and Donald R. Moffett, 21, of Denver, were arrested March 4 as they drove from Canada into the United States.

House And Garden Aphids Hamper Trees'Health Many disease and insect problems are now appearing in the Piedmont area on shrubs and 'trees as well as on vegetable plants. One problem on crabapple and apple trees is the woolly apple aphid. This insect infests roots, branches, and twigs of trees. The aboveground colonies of aphids attack the more tender growing twigs, water sprouts and the calloused tissue in cankers, and scars. Underground colonies attack Toots and the base of the tree trunk.

Conspicuous rounded or galls develop on the roots as a result of wooly apple aphid infestation. The roots are often so badly deformed that trees are stunted and growth may be stopped in extreme cases. Apple and crabapple trees of ages and most varieties "are susceptible to attack; trees, especially stock, are the most injured. Over-wintering eggs of the -woolly apple aphid are found on American Elm. The eggs hatch early in the spring before the buds on elms open.

In North Carolina the migration of winged aphids from elm to apple begins the latter part April and extends through May. Aphids then feed and reproduce during the summer as aerial root colonies on apple and. crabapple trees. In the fall, a winged aphid generation emerges and migrates to elms. Root the woolly apple aphid may survive the winter on apple trees and remain active in spite of chemicals used to control the colonies.

Most North Carolina apple orchards. are' infested with these aphids. Any one. setting new.apple or.crabappie trees should make sure the trees are not infected or show evidence (galls) of previous infestations. The best time to control aerial colonies of this aphid is during the period of migration from elm to apple which may occur during the period from late April to late May.

The aerial colonies of this insect may be killed by a thorough spraying at high pressure with malathion. Jury Deciding Verdict In SLA Murder Trial By BOB EGELKO Associated Press Writer SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) A jury heavily loaded with government dependents is trying to unscramble a maze of revolutionary plots and decide if two Sym- bionese Liberation Army members are guilty of murder.

The case of avowed SLA "soldiers" Russell Little and Joseph Remiro was handed Friday to a Superior Court jury of eight men and four women whose selection began two months ago. The jury was expected to resume its river, a West Virginia congressman says. "The North Carolina-approved legislation now goes to the Secretary of the Interior for approval of wild and scenic river protection for the upper New River as part of the National Wild and Scenic River system," said Rep. Ken Hechler, D-W. Va.

Wisconsin Six jurors depend on some level of govern- for income from their own job, their spouse's job or their pension. Little and Remiro are charged with murder in the Nov. 6, 1973 cyanide-bullet killing of Oakland school Supt. Marcus Foster and attempted murder in the shooting of his top aide, Robert Blackburn. Without an eyewitness who could place the defendants at the scene, the prosecution led Answer to Previous Puzzle jurors through a tangled web of SLA history, plots, threats and hideouts to try to prove a conspiracy case.

Under California law, Little and Remiro could be convicted of murder if the jury agrees with the prosecution's contention that they took part in a plot to kill Foster. "It is not necessary for proof of guilt of a defendant that he committed the overt act," Superior Court Judge Elvin Sheeny told the jury Friday. He also said that membership in the SLA was not proof of conspiracy or guilt. Little, 25, a University of Florida philosophy graduate, and Remiro, 28, a Vietnam veteran and former antiwar organizer, are two of the five known surviving members the SLA. The others are William and Emily Harris and newspaper heiress Patricia Hearst, who was kidnaped by the SLA but later said she had joined the group.

All three are fugivitives. Six other SLA members were killed last May in a Shootout with Los Angeles police. Fortunately for his peace of mind his play was delicate and successful. If West had opened a trump, nothing would have saved South's slam, but no one can really blame West for getting off to the king of diamonds lead.

East dropped the four and South false- carded with the six, but West did not fall for it and shifted to a trump. South won, cashed his aces of spades and diamonds, ruffed a diamond and led dum- 'my's queen of spades. East was smart enough not to cover and South discarded his three of clubs. The jack of spades came next and again East held back his king. South huddled and finally ruffed.

Then he ran off all his trumps. The last trump 'squeezed poor West who had to throw away his jack of clubs in order to retain a high diamond. South led his queen of clubs, dropped West's king, covered with his ace in the dummy and picked up the last trick with his 10 of clubs. South's line of play wasn't. the best, since it required finding both the king and jack of clubs in the West hand.

But nothing succeeds like success and it was the one that worked.
