We have been busy on limited time contracts that required considerable over-time the past few months and while we still have a fair backlog we are now bidding on and hoping to secure awards for some large contract work to keep our plant and men going in full production with the hope that 1950 may prove better than 1949. Completion of the bridge project, the new paving through Milan, and the Eleventh street paving Job in Rock Island during 1949, provide a 4-lane highway from Eleventh street and Fourth avenue, Rock Island, to just beyond Castle Junction, about ii i it II south of it. Contracts have not been let by the state for the removal of the other obsolete bridges. The super-highway from the edge of Milan to just beyond Castle Junction was completed in 1948.
