L.d Jackson Lohse College instructors, Theresa M. Jackson and Brenda Lohse, have been presented the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Teaching Excellence Award. Jackson and Lohse will attend the NISOD International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence, May 23-26 in Austin, Texas. Each year, instructors are nominated by WJTCC employees and students and chosen to receive the award based on four criteria: teaching effectiveness, college service, professional development and community service. Lohse is a business occupations instructor, and Jackson is an English instructor.

David L. Brown of Des Moines, was elected vice president, and John A. McClintock of Des Moines, was elected secretary-treasurer Storm Lake attorney Phil C. Redenbaugh was elected to the Academy's Board of Governors, representing the Third Judicial District. The Academy was formed in 1962 to provide a forum in which Iowa's top trial lawyers can exchange information and viewpoints on trial law and to promote professionalism.

Membership is by invitation only and limited to 250 attorneys, but the Academy freely shares its expertise with the entire Iowa legal communi- ty' Awarded Two Western Iowa Tech Community Elected Sheila Baker has been elected president of the Iowa Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators. Baker is director of administration for the law offices of Crary, Huff, Inkster, Hecht Sheehan, with of- fices in Sioux City, South Sioux City and Dakota Dunes. ALA is an international professional organization of over 9,000 men and women who manage the business side of law firms. The Iowa Chapter consists of approximately 60 members. Patrick McCruden of Sioux City has been elected chairperson of the Woodbury County Community Action Agency board of directors.

The Woodbury County Community Action Agency is a nonprofit human services corporation serving low-income residents of the county. Grimm, who chairs the IABI's Workers' Compensation Committee, is a partner in the Sioux City law firm of Heidman, Redmond, Fredregill, Patterson, Plaza and Dykstra. Awarded The National Farmers Union (NFU) awarded its top honor for agricultural communications to Judy Stratman of WNAX radio in Yankton, S.D. NFU President Leland Swenson presented Stratman with the Milt Hakel Award for Excellence in Agricultural Communications at the organization's 97th anniversary convention in Springfield.
