A 8 The Sioux City Journal, Sunday, April 8. 1984 Area obituaries married Minnie Julius Jan. 27, 1919, in Sioux Falls. They lived in LitUe Rock where he was a contractor, builder and carpenter. Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Mrs.

Jim (Grace) Olson of Little Rock; two sons, Henry of Rock Rapids and Kenneth of Humboldt; 11 grandchildren, and 13 Monday at the First Presbyterian Church in Little Rock. The Rev. Randy Ross will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery at Little Rock. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m.

in the Vogelaar-Bolin Funeral Home in Little Rock. Mr. De Berg was born Nov. 1894, at Ashton. As a youth he lived at Ashton and Bigelow, Minn.

He "Enterour Joseph E. Dalton AKRON, Iowa Joseph E. Dalton, 83, of Akron died Friday at an Akron hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St Patrick's Catholic Church in Akron.

The Rev. Stanley Stone will officiate. Burial will be in St Mary's Cemetery at Hawarden. A rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Sunday at the Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.

Mr. Dalton was born June 3, 1900, at Hawarden. He married Dorothy Benjamin Nov. 19, 1929, at Elk Point, S.D. They lived in Akron since 1934.

He is a retired implement and feed corn dealer. Survivors include his wife; two sons, John C. of Reno, and Thomas J. of Sausalito, one daughter, Claire D. Gosly of Burlingame, one sister, Mrs.

Roland (Isabelle) Mauer of Cheyenne, and four grandchildren. LeoH. Ballard VERMILLION, S.D. Leo H. Ballard, 59, of Vermillion died in a Sioux City hospital Friday.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Vermillion. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Vermillion under the direction of the Iverson Funeral Home. A wake service will be at 7:30 p.m.

Monday at the church. Mr. Ballard was born Aug. 19, 1924, in Vermillion. He graduated from Vermillion High School.

He married Monica Devine Sept. 11, 1944, in Wakonda, S.D. He owned and operated Leo's Lounge in Vermillion. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, the Elks Club of Yankton, the Eagles Club of Vermillion and the Coach's Club of the University of South Dakota.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Madonna of Vermillion; one son, Jerry of Newton, Iowa; two brothers, George of Vermillion and Howard of Phoenix, two sisters, Mrs. Paul (Robin) Eisen-menger of Vermillion and Mrs. Russell (Ruth) Bohart of Sacramento, and one grandson. Martin De Berg LITTLE ROCK, Iowa Martin De Berg, 89, of Little Rock died Thursday at his home. Services will be at 1:30 p.m.

22, 1932 at-Webster, S.D. He graduated from Webster High School, and entered service with the U.S. Navy. He married Doris Forbes July 14, 1956 at Webster. He graduated from South Dakota State University In 1959.

He taught school at Tyndal, West Lyon near Inwood, Iowa, and Central Lyon at Rock Rapids from 1964 to 1977. In 1977 he purchased a hardwxare store in Rock Rapids. He was a past president of the Community Affairs Corporation in Rock Rapids, and a member of the Rex Strait post 103, American Legion. Survivors are his wife; three sons, Michael of Wayne, Alan of Ft. Knox, and Steve of Rock Rapids; one daughter, Dawn at home; two grandchildren; his mother, Mrs.

Clara Breske of Webster; five sisters, Mrs. Harold (Grace) Burns of Watertown, S.D., Mrs. Dominic (Ann) Dylla of Litchfield, Mrs. Pete (Marie) Dylla of New Prague, Mrs. Robert (Phyllis) Norrts of Ft.

Collins, and Mrs. Cecil (Genie) Hellyner of Ft. Collins; three brothers, Tony of Waseca, Alvin of Waubay, S.D., and David of Canon City. Colo. Herman Timmermann ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa Herman SEIKO WATCH TJmmerman, 74, of Rock Rapids, died Friday at a nursing home here.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Immanuel Lutheran Church. The Rev. Arnold Imbrock will officiate. Burial will be in Holman Township Cemetery at Sibley.

Mrs. Timmermann was born June 3, 1909 at Sibley. He farmed in theSibley area until 1963 when he moved to Rock Rapids. He was employed on area farms until 1978, when he entered the nyrsing home Survivors are three sisters, Margaret Olson of Greeley, Miss Evalyn of Rock Rapids, Mrs. Ed (Caroline) Wheeler of Sibley; a brother, Ben of Heron Lake, and a half-brother, Fred Thies of Moville.

Floyd Degroot ALQESTER, S.D. Floyd Degroot, 77, of Alcester, died Friday at a hospital In Sioux Falls. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Wass Funeral Home in Alcester. The Rev.

Neal Ahart will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Mr. Degroot was born March 13, 1907 at Ashton, Iowa. His family moved to Sheldon, Rwa.

On Sept. 6, 1941 he married Margaret Montgomery at Joplin, Mo. He was employed as a redio and television technician in several Iowa communities. He was a veteran of World War serving in the U. S.

Army. Survivors are his wife; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Kennedy of Omaha, and Mrs. Frances Sterler, of Ashton. America's selling watch.

Charlotte M. Leinart Services for Charlotte M. Leinart, 66, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, formerly of South Sioux City, were held Saturday in Cedar Rapids. She died Thursday at her home after a sudden illness. Mrs.

Leinart was born June 6, 1917, in South Sioux City. She married Marvin R. Leinart Aug. 8, 1936, at Elk Point, S.D. She had lived in Cedar Rapids 26 years.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Jacqueline Davis of Sioux City; two sons, Robert of Lisbon, Iowa, and Ronald of Cedar Rapids; one brother, Lew BlassI of Sioux City; two sisters, Clarice Roper of Albuquerque, N.M., and Betty Jo Carroll of Sacramento, and four grandsons. Holdcraft, 73, Indian Hills Care Center, died Thursday at the care center. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Christy Morningside Funeral Home. Pastor Ralph W. Wallin of St.

Luke Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begjn at 1 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr.

Holdcraft was born Aug. 21, 1910, at Sloan, Iowa. He lived most of his life in Sioux City but lived for awhile in Norfolk, and Sioux Narrows, Canada. Survivors include a daughter, Debra Bilbo of DeQueen, two sons, William J. of Omaha and Richard T.

of Clovis, a sister, Daisy Casper of Sioux City; brother, Howard of Sioux City; seven grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society. Dorothy Weintz, 84, Indian Hills Care Center, died Saturday; Christy Morningside Funeral Home. Ray Newman, 91, .1817 S. Lakeport Road, died Saturday; Christy Morningside Funeral Home.

Mrs. Leora M. Mclnerney, 74, Niland, formerly of Sioux City, died Saturday; Meyer Bros. Colonial Chapel. Mrs.

Esther Jefferson i PERRY, Iowa Mrs. Esther M. Jefferson, 91, died Thursday at a nursing home in Perry after a long illness. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.

The Rev. Gene M. Fortune, pastor of Augustana Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m.

Jefferson in Des Moines in 1928. He preceded her in death Sept. 12, 1980. Mrs. Jefferson lived in Sioux City in the early 1930s until the couple moved to Spokane, and then to Marion, Iowa.

Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Ellen Hanson, of Sioux City. 1 Pearl Petersen Pearl Petersen, 89, of Indian Hills Care Center, died Saturday after a lengthy illness. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Berkemeier Funeral Home, the Rev.

Dennis Tevis, Crescent Park United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mrs. Petersen was born Dec. 6, 1894, in Sioux City and was a lifelong resident. She married Nels Petersen in 1954.

He died in 1976. Survivors include a son, Frank Carlson of Sioux City; a stepson, Herbert Petersen of Omaha; four grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren. Cecil R.Griffith Cecil R. Griffith, 65, of 416 11th died unexpectedly Thursday at his home. Services will be at 3 p.m.

Monday at the Berkemier Funeral Home. The Rev. M.L. Jacobson of Morn-ingside Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Griffith was born Sept. 28, 1918, in Anthon, Iowa, and moved to Sioux City as a child. He married Elizabeth Peterson In 1941. She' preceded him in death in 1947.

He was employed by Council Oak Stores, Tolerton and Warfield Co. and National Tea Company prior to his retirement in 1975.
