6-The Sioux City Journal, Monday, January 20, 1975 Gilbert, Gadzikowski Siouxland United Way Elects Six Directors Six Sioux City men have been elected to the board of directors of the Siouxland United Way. The men are Gilbert Gadzikowski, chairman of the board and executive vice president of the First National Bank; Leslie Olson, president Laurence Galloway Credit Union Elects Moore Robert Moore was elected to serve a three-year term on the board of directors of The Journal Employes Credit Union at the group's annual meeting at The Biltmore dining room Sunday. Re-elected to three-year board terms were Dick Champ and Gary Mohr. At the board's reorganization meeting all officers were reelected. They included Champ, president; James May, vice president; Verna Thomas, secretary, and Mary Roehrich, treasurer.

Clarence Olson will again head the loan committee and Richard Anderson will chair the audit committee. Obituaries John H. Bliss, 37, 2521 Chicago an engineer for North American Manufacturing died early Sunday at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness. Mr. Bliss was born on Sept. 1, 1937 at.

Vermillion, S.D. He attended Vermillion Public School and was graduated from Vermillion High School. He received a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of South Dakota in 1960. He had been a resident of Sioux City for the past nine years and was a member of the Heating and Plumbing Contractors Examining Board for the City of Sioux City. He was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church.

He married Karen D. Sorenson on Nov. 18, 1957 in Sioux City. Survivors include the widow; two sons, Kevin and David, and two daughters, Nancy and Jamie, all at home; his mother, Mrs. Herbert Bliss of Vermillion, and two brothers, Paul of Vermillion and Gary of San Diego, Calif.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Morningside Lutheran Church with the Rev. James R. Bjorge officiating. Burial in Bluff View Cemetery at Vermillion will be under the direction of the Nelson-Berger Funeral Home in Morningside.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Sullivan, James Manning, Tom DeRoos, Gordon Thompson, Mel Fairbanks and Wayne Phillips. -Fredrick L. Kanan John H. Bliss Fredrick Kanan, 64, Fairfield, formerly of Sioux City, died Friday in the Fairfield hospital after a brief illness. Due to dropped matter, Mr.

Kanan's name was spelled incorrectly in The Journal's Sunday editions. Charles T. Klanderud Charles T. Klanderud, 88, who resided at Matney Colonial Manor in South Sioux City, died early Sunday at the nursing home after an illness of several months. Services will be at 1:30 p.m.

Tuesday at the Nelson-Berger Northside Funeral Home with his brother-in-law, the Rev. Carl Grindberg, officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Grindberg, Ed Johnson, Bennett Aust, Carl Hendrickson and Arnold Sandvick. Mr.

Klanderud was born on June 13, 1886 in Sioux City and lived here until 1923. He was the office manager for Rice Brothers Commission Co. here before moving to Red Wing, Minn. where he was a member of the faculty of the Red Wing, Seminary and Academy, which was associated with the Norwegian Lutheran Church. He moved to Chicago in 1930 and was employed by the U.S.

Treasury Department until his retirement in 1951. He returned to Sioux City in December 1972 to make his home with his brother-in-law and sister, Rev. and Mrs. Grindberg. He moved to the nursing home in May 1973.

Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Grindberg and Miss Bertha Klanderud, both of Sioux City, and several nieces and nephews. Joseph H. Newkirk Services for Joseph H. Newkirk, 102, 912 Fifth will be at 1 p.m.

Tuesday in the Mount Olive Baptist Church. The Rev. Charles E. Glover Sr. will officiate.

Burial will be in the Logan Park Cemetery under the direction of the Rutledge-Gulsrud Funeral Chapel. Pallbearers will be Lawrence Ganaway, Perry Richmond, Alec Thomas, David Williams, Albert Butler and Victor Winfrey. Honorary pallbearers will be James Holloway, Allen Robinson, E. M. Abair, Roscoe Holiday, Cecil Davis, Melvin Conley and Berlin O'Neil.

Mr. Newkirk died Saturday morning at a Sioux City nursing home after a long illness. St. James Laymen Tell Plans The laymen's group of St. Jame United Methodist Church, 2032 S.

Cypress will host its sixth annual mid-winter laymen's rally and chili supper at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Over 200 men from 35 Siouxland churches are expected for the meal, devotions and short business meeting. There will also be "Christian witness through song" by the Carmel Men's Gospel Quartet of the Carmel Reformed Church in Rock Valley, Iowa. Proceeds of the event will 1 go to the United Church Men of Sioux City.

Arlo Will is the coordinator of the event, and his committee members include Leon Stevenson and Lyle Johnston, kitchen operations; Brian McNamara and Doug Menefee, dining room; Art Hallbauer and Ken Steuve, devotions; Leo Ronfeldt and Gil Bennett, transportation; Dale Kihns, song leader, and Cleo Pottorff, registration and attendance. Cindy Kunze, 23, 4548 Central was listed in "good" condition Sunday with left side and back injuries; and Charlene Pumputis, 16, 2215 Metroplitan was termed in "serious" condition with hip and forehead injurics. They were passengers in a car that was struck broadside. by a semi-trailer truck in the 3200 block of U.S. 75 North, Sioux City police reported. The driver of the car was Ronald Lee Keleher, 20, 14th officers reported.
