According to Lyn Stoyer, station executive vice president and general manager, among the station's most recent additionas are two tape-editor machines, which were put In service since August. The machines are used to edit tape and prepare it for airing. Later this spring, Stoyer added, a communication tower at the station, which is equipped to receive all emergency frequencies, will begin accepting weather radar.

Half of the more than $1 million spent on the new station was invested in the mechanical aspects of the building in which the environment is controlled as far as temperature, humidity, pollen and dust are concerned. Construction of the facility began in May 1976. Only a few items from the old station were moved to Signal Hill. The station was acquired from Perkins Bros. Co.

in 1974 by Black Hawk Broadcasting of Waterloo, Iowa. Since the time of purchase, Stoyer said, the staff of the NBC affiliate has increased from 32 to 58 employees. On June 6 at 8 a.m. KTIV's first program from Its new home on Signal Hill was broadcast. The new location at Floyd Boulevard and Outer Belt Drive represented a major change for the station, whose studios had been situated at 10th Street and Grandview Boulevard for almost 25 years.

The new facility represented a first for Sioux-land, being equipped for total electronic news gathering. It is the only station in the area to rely completely on videotape cameras Action Cams. The station has five such cameras with a sixth camera on order. The one-story structure is part of the Stonethrow Office Park and includes 15,000 square feet of space. All the electronic equipment is clustered in the middle of the building, and the control-room floor has tiles which can be removed for repairs to miles of electronic lines which feed the solid-state equipment.

The station's signal is sent from the control room via a microwave disc on top of the building to the station's transmitter near Team builds new facility I tfT i wiiiwiHMWi4iw Vance Planz, owner of the new Team Electronics Store under construction now, says the store will be unique in many ways including and angled-wall concept which will provide more "dynamic" space decor. Weller Co. has added the new premium fishing line which will be marketed worldwide and a large portion of the future growth of the company's fishing tackle division is anticipated by this product, said Schneider. Monofiliment line is one of the basic items used in the fishing tackle industry The manufacturing process is 80 feet long and requires 11 different pieces of equipment, said Schneider. As many as 28 different lines can be run simultaneously.

The new line will be marketed under the name of "Nitro." Nitro's packaging is a new concept of using a clear plastic living hinge box with hanger tab for peg board display. The company also manufactures fishing tackle, pet products, miniature wire cables and custom plastic moulding. Airport from the river to Interstate 29. There also will be some additional levee construction on the Iowa side between the new Military Road bridge and the railroad bridge to the north. "The second stage will remove Riverside and North Sioux City from the flood plain, meaning a positive impact on property values by reducing the cost of flood insurance and encouraging development Meisner said.

"It's expected to have considerable impact on long-term development in North Sioux City and Riverside." It could be made into a developed park after completion of the flood control project, he added. Farther downstream, the river has been widened in places and the banks smoothed and cleared of brush and rubble. There also has beea dredging to widen the river bottom to 250 feet. The second stage of the project, originally scheduled for last fall, was delayed because some of the right-of-way and easements needed hadn't been acquired.

But Meisner said most of the property in question, located in Sioux City, North Sioux City and Union County now has been obtained, including about 44 parcels on the Iowa side and 40 on the South Dakota side. By April, he said, the right-of-ways should be certified and contractor bids will be taken shortly afterward. Actual second-stage construction will begin in late spring or early summer, Meisner said. North Sioux City will get its levee protection in second-stage construction. That will involve building a levee around the north side of North Sioux City and Graham Lights will be on a valance that will use diffusing panels on the bottom to allow the maximum amount of light to fall on equipment without having it appear with glare.

Interior colors of the store will be done in earth tones with bright orange accents. Fixtures will be monochromatic (one color) to show the products to the best advantage. Pflanz will be able to see the entire sales floor from his office and there will be several sales stations in the store. Pflanz said he hopes to be occupying the new store by April 1. The newest and largest Team store will employ about 23 persons.

Scheiblauer of Minneapolis said the mood or decor of this room will be subdued in order that persons can listen more easily without sensory distractions. Scheiblauer is experimenting with a number of construction and decorating ideas in this store. He is using an angled-wall concept that is, some of the walls will be at 45-degree angles from one another. Scheiblauer said this will allow for more "dynamic" space and that the room is designed in the way that most persons travel about and shop in a store. Even the lighting at the new store will be unique.

Tract lighting will allow light to be controlled more easily so if new displays are set up, the light can be beamed toward it Electronics helps Cam Holgate, anchorwomanl for KTIV's noon news, prepares a story in the newsroom. In that room will be a wall mural of the "earth rise" photo taken the first time man walked on the moon.

There also will be a commercial electronics room for the display of equipment specially designed for businesses such as surveillance television systems and commercial microphones, said Pflanz. Another room will feature displays of audio equipment such as stereos and tape players and recorders. Team architect Ron Distributor Construction of the largest Team Electronics Store in the nation was begun in Sioux City last August. Owner Vance Planz said the new store will be located at 415 Pavonia behind one of two Sioux City Team stores currently in operation, and will be the largest of 116 Team stores in America. Both equipment and personnel will move from the existing Team Store at 2015 Fourth to the new store.

The second Sioux City Team store is located at KD Stockyards Station. The new building will be 13,000 square feet and will be located on one floor. Approximately 3,500 square feet of space will be devoted to sales. The rest will be used for an equipment repair area, office space, warehouse space and three drive-in bays for the installation of audio equip- Gary Sherman, Owner First stage construction of the Big Sioux River flood control project, begun last May 9, is about 98 per cent complete. With the exception of about three weeks of "spring cleaning," including planting grass, the project is ready to progress to the second and last phase, according to Donald Meisner, director of the Siouxland Interstate Metropolitan Planning Council (SIMPCO).

The total project is expected to be completed in the summer of 1979 at an estimated cost of $6,650,000. As part of the first stage, a new flood levee was constructed around the edge of Riverside and the river banks, including rock reinforcements, between Sioux City and North Sioux City. The new levee was built at about the same elevation as the old one, thrown up during floods in the 1960s, but is closer to the river. The two structures join at the north end at River Drive, but the new levee extends farther out toward the river at the south end. The old levee, which served as a roadbed for part of River Drive, has been returned to ground level.
