Windows shattered at two businesses Gazette I Wednesday, February 3, 1988 Page 27 Criminal incidents reported to area police during the past two days include the shattering of two Indiana business and office glass doors and costly windows in a car. The summary: Indiana Borough police said someone shattered glass doors at the Hodan Chiropractic Clinic, 1155 Philadelphia and the Frick Building, 31S. Carpenter Aye. in-Indiana Monday or Tuesday. The loss in each incident was approximately $150.

According to Indiana Borough police, someone smashed some windows in a parked car owned by Marene Y.u of 252 N. llth Indiana, Monday or Tuesday. Police said replacement value of the damaged glass was Michael Yakemik, 24, of Indiana RD 1 reported an incident to state police on Tuesday. Police said someone fired three shots from a .22 caliber rifle into Yakemik's trailer between 1:30 and 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.

State police said Ralph Johns Walker, 65, of 54 Walker Lane, Indiana, reported that someone had stolen a Walker Lane sign from the entrance to his driveway on" Monday. According to state police, some- one slashed" three tires on a parked vehicle owned by Thomas Earl McCracken, 19, of Indiana RD 1 on Monday or Tuesday while the vehicle was parked at McCracken's residence. A suspected counterfeit U.S. bill was turned over to state police Tuesday evening. Police said the bill will be turned over to the Treasury Department for verification.

Somerset pilot dies in crash SOMERSET, Pa. (AP) A student pilot whose mother was killed in an airplane crash 13 years ago died when he tried to land his twin- engine plane at the Somerset County Airport. John Higgins, 24, of Somerset, was pronounced dead at the scene following Tuesday's crash, said Somerset County Coroner Wilbur Miller. took off alone from the airport shortly after noon in his' father's Cessna, said Airport Manager Robert Aultz. After five minutes in the air, he tried to return because of bad weather.

The plane crashed 500 feet to the right of the runway, Aultz said Emergency crews had to extricate his body from the plane. KATHRINE I. LUTHER CAMPBELL, 85, of 172 Maple Blairsville, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 1988, in the Indiana Hospital. A daughter of James and Mary Ann Carroll Luther, she was born July 2,1902, in Torrance.

Mrs. Campbell was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Biairs- ville. She had lived her entire life in Blairsville and had been employed by the Manos Theater in Blairsville for many years. Surviving are a stepson, James Campbell, Port Orange, two stepdaughters: Mrs. Toleof (Shirley) Nasby, West Palm Beach, Mrs.

Herbert (Jane) Alexander, Cleveland, Ohio; eight stepgrandchildren; three nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence Campbell in 1969; five sisters and two brothers. Funeral arrangements, in charge of the Richard L. Shoemaker Funeral Home, Blairsville, are incomplete and will be published in Thursday's Indiana Gazette. JOHN M.

EDWARDS, 67, Clymer RD 1, died Monday, Feb. 1, 1988, in the Indiana Hospital. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 79 p.m. Wednesday in the Bence Funeral Home, Clymer, where a Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday; Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m.

Thursday in St. Anthony's Church, Clymer, with Rev. Fr. Paul Filzmaurice, celebrant. Interment will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Township, Washington County.

1, 1983, in the Indiana Hospital. A son of Samuel E. and Vernie Ryen Barr, he was born June 16,1908, in Gipsy. Mr. Barr was a member of Dixonville Moose Lodge 833; American Legion Clymer Post 222; Sheffield Rod and Gun Club; East Run Sportsmen's Club; North American Hunting Club; NRA; UMWA Local 6796 of Clymer.

He was a retired coal miner. Surviving are five daughters: Mrs. Reno (Barbara Ann) Pozzine and Mrs. Edward (Sandra Jean) Rhea, Dixonville; Mrs. Wilson (Alice) Kantz, Commodore RD Mrs.

Dennis (Toni) Clawson, Clymer; Mrs. Alvin (Connie) Little, Clymer RD six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters: Albert and Samuel Clymer RD Mrs. Maude Sasala, Cleveland, Ohio; Mrs. Dewey (Arveda) Hornesby, Akron, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen E.

HAROLD "SUNNY" BARRETT, 81, of 968 Edmon Kiski Township, died Tuesday, Feb. 2,1988 in West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh. A son of Charlie A. and Martha Dodson Barrett, he was born Feb. 2, 1907, in Smicksburg.

Mr. Barrett was a member of the United Methodist Church, Arnold; Tynan Lodge No. 644, New Kensington; Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Pittsburgh; past president of Spring Church Beagle Club; past president New Kensington Kiwanis Club; charter president of VNA of Westmoreland County. He retired in 1972 from American St. Gobain Glass Co.

in Arnold where he had been chief accountant for 41 years. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Mary Elano're Butler Barrett; a son, Daniel Greensburg; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Judith) Fischer, Bakertown; three grandchildren; a brother, George Franklin; a sister. Ruby Ream, North Hollywood, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Frank.

2, 1988, in theClearfield Hospital. A daughter of Michael and Helen Stolit- ca Hook, she was born Jan. 13, 1912, in Urey. A resident of the McGees Mills and Urey areas most of her life, she had formerly lived in Elizabeth Township, Allegheny County. Surviving are her husband, Joseph Hromyak; a daughter, Mrs.

Margaret Handel, Elizabeth Township; a son, Joseph Punxsutawney; five grandchildren; seven sisters: Mrs. Ann Wanoski, Glen Campbell; Mrs. Mary Yankasky, Rossiter RD Mrs. Sue Dzonko, New Castle; Mrs. Helen Symonak, Midland; Mrs.

Surviving are a son, Eugene E. Spargo Tacoma, two grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, two stepgreat- grandchiidren; three sisters: Mrs. Helen Spiecher, Baltimore, Mrs. Charlotte Welteroth, Snelocta RD Mrs. Waldo (Mildred) Wissinger, Conemaugh; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene E. Spargo; two brothers and three sisters: John R. and Floyd E. Barry, Mrs. Lela Mikeseil, Mrs.

Gertrude's Roman Catholic Church of Meln- tyre. He had lived his entire life in Indiana County and was employed as a foreman with PennDOT for 31 years. He had served in the U.S. Army. Surviving are his wife, Giovanna Cicola Aloise; a son, Joseph V.

of Kent; and a daughter, Diane J. Aloise, at home. He was preceded in death by his mother. Friends will be received from 24 and 79 p.m. Wednesday at Robinson-Lytle's, Indiana.

Bernard Cemetery, Indiana. The rosary will be recited at 3:45 p.m Wednesday in the funeral home. GAYE SHAFFER LYTLE, 99, of 1515 Wayne Indiana, died Tuesday, Feb. 2,1988, in Cameron Manor, Indiana. A daughter of Levi and Martha Duncan Shaffer, she was born March 24, 1888 in Indiana.

Mrs. Lytle had lived her entire life in Indiana. Surviving are a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry "Jack" Lytle May 19,1974. A private service will be held Thursday at Robinson-Lytle's, Indiana.

SYLVESTER H. HOLLABAUGH, 70, Luciusboro, died Monday, Feb. 1,1988, in the Indiana Hospital. A son of John and Emma Hollabaugh, he was born Aug. 16,1916 in Morrisdale.

Mr. Hollabaugh was a social member of the American Legion of Homer City. He was a retired coal miner, having worked at the Tide Mine for Coal Co. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Goldie Hollabaugh; two sons and a daughter: Joseph Cornvay; Glenn Homer City (Coy Junction); Mrs. Riichard (Laura) Colgan, Luciusboro; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs.

15701. Nanty GIo area to boil water NANTY GLO Customers of Nanty Glo Water Authority are advised to boil any water used for drinking and cooking for at least one minute until further notice. The boil-water notice is necessary because recent rains have caused high turbidity, according to a water authority spokesman. Affected areas include Nanty GIo, Cardiff, Revloc and Jackson Township in Cambria County. Teen-age boys sought in derailment BRIDGEWATER, Pa.

(AP) -Authorities are looking for two teenage boys suspects of throwing a switch that caused a train derailment in Beaver County last weekend. Two engines and 11 cars of the 90- ear CSX Corp. train derailed when the train changed tracks and crashed into a boxcar in Bridgewater on Saturday. Four crew members suffered minor injuries. Assistant District Attorney Anthony Berosh said his office is treating the accident "as a criminal investigation not an accident." The FBI is analyzing fingerprhfls removed from a railroad switch as part of the investigation.

The accident occurred on tracks owned by Pittsburgh Lake Erie Railroad. The main track was reopened Monday, but the other track. where the derailment occurred be out of operation for one or said spokesman Charles Craig. Craig said the railroad and will share cleanup expenses, ed to cost more than $500,000. The railroad likely will try to recover- costs from any party responsible for, causing the derailment, he said.
