(Gazette photo by Willis Bechtel) Motorist injured in 3-car pileup DERRY One motorist received a minor injury in a three-car chainreaction accident on Route 30 in Westmoreland County at 4:10 p.m. Tuesday. The drivers were Donna Burfield, of Homer City; Bela Toth, 79, Ligonier; and Stephen Barker, 45, 3-Derry.

Toth suffered a facial injury when was hit by the airbag that deployed in the collision, said state -police in Greensburg. The crash occurred near the Route -982 intersection. In another traffic accident reportZed by area police: VALLEY A garage owned by Raymond Neil Moore was damaged in a hit-and-run accident between 4 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. Tuesday.

-Someone backed a vehicle into the garage, breaking the door and dam-aging the viny! siding and some lumber, said state police in Kittanning. The garage is located behind First Street in Rural Valley. The letter was taken from her mailbox on Silvis Hollow Road, about one mile south of Route 422 in Plumcreek Township, between 10:30 and 1:30 p.m. March 9, said state police in Kittanning.

John Brickell John Alfred 'Al' Brickell, 87, 1680 Old Route 119 South, Indiana, died Monday, April 22, 1996, at the Indiana Hospital. Born Nov. 5, 1908, in Indiana County, he was the son of John Ira and Mary Spencer Brickell.

Mr. Brickell was a member of the Calvary Presbyterian Church of Indiana. He belonged to DAV Indiana County Chapter 20. He was a former member of the Saddle Club; American Legion Post 141 and was a leader for the 4-H Club. He was a veteran of World War IT, having served in the U.S.

Army. He was an employee of the Exxon office staff for many years and following his retirement was involved in income tax preparations. Surviving are one daugater, Susan L. Adamson and husband Richard, Indiana; one grandson, Scott; one granddaughter, Tricia, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Olive Lockard Brickell in an infant son, Robert, in 1932; two brothers, William and Mearle; and five sisters, Edna Rising, Lula Hanna, Dollie Beers, Ollie Stahl and Mary White.

Friends will be received from 24 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Elizabeth Rogers will officiate and interment will be in the Oakland Cemetery, Indiana.

Charles Pearce Charles "Chuck" Harvey Pearce 44, Punxsutawney RD 2, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 1996, at his home. The son of Charles Harvey Pearce Sr. and Doris Jean Hopkins Pearce, he was born May 22, 1951, in Glen Campbell RD 1. Mr. Pearce attended the Chestnut Grove Church, Punxsutawney RD2, He married Wanda Sue Wolfe on June 5, 1971.

Together, they had six children. He was a 1970 graduate of Harmony High School and a member of the Burnside Sportsman Club and C.W.A. He enjoyed both hunting and fishing. He was employed for 25 years as a cable splicer for Bell Atlantic Telephone, originally working out of the Indiana office and then in DuBois. Surviving are his wife, these children: Jennifer S.

Pearce, Punxsutawney RD Charles "Toby" Burnside; Carrie D. and Jeremy W. Pearce, both of Punxsutawney RD two granddaughters and one grandson: Jackie, Tiffany and DilIon; his mother, Glen Campbell; and these brothers and sisters: Mrs. Gary (Gloria) Mack, Rossiter RD; Mrs. Larry (Edith) Fulton, Luthersburg Ronald D.

and wife, Mary, Glen Campbell RD Robert M. and wife, Penny, Glen Campbell RD. Gary W. and wife, Deb, Mahaffey RD; and Jody L. Smith and wife, Carrie, Punxsutawney RD.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Kevin and Kelvin, and his father. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. both Thursday and Friday at the Albert E. Rairigh Funeral Home, Hillsdale, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 27, with the Rev.

Darrell Smith officiating. Interment will be made in Burnside Cemetery. Mary Plowman Mary Agnes Plowman, 70, Armagh, died Tuesday, April 23, 1996, at her home. The daughter of Rudolph and Agnes Mitchell Young, she was born Oct. 31, 1925, in Friedens.

Mrs. Plowman was a member of the Armagh United Methodist Church and Armagh Borough Council. She was formerly employed by Bergman's Hardware, Blairsville, for 35 years. Surviving are her mother, Somerset; these children: Larry married to the former, Connie Murdick, Butler; Rodney Sarasota, and Cecil Shreveport, four grandchildren: Bradley, Eric, Barry and Beverly Plowman; and one sister, Dolores Kephart, Somerset. She was preceded in death by her father.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, New Florence, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. John E.

'Burn week' begins in Homer City HOMER CITY Mayor John Griffith has set burn week in Homer City starting today, April 22, and continuing through Friday, April 26. Burning is permitted between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. if a resident decides to burn materials, the fire must not include garbage or offensive-smelling materials and a responsible person must be attending the fire at all times. The resident will be responsible for any and all damage resulting because of the fire.

County ch names sch school-to-work liaison on a 12-month employee salary prorated over six months. According to John Jahoda, administrative director, Palilla will receive no benefits except retirement. His salary is jointly funded through the federal government's School-to-Work Act by the U.S. Departments of Education, Labor and Commerce. Jahoda said $275,000 will be disbursed over a four year period.

The grant is a cooperative effort between the Vo-Tech school, ARIN and private industry. William Claycomb William H. Claycomb, 74, Blairs- ville RD 5, Burrell Township, died Monday, April 22, 1996, at the V.A. Medical Center in Butler. A son of Denny C.

and Daisey M. Shawley Claycomb, he was born Sept. 3, 1921, in Fort Palmer, Pa. Mr. Claycomb was a member of the Indiana American Legion and was a life member of the Blairsville VFW Post 5821.

He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict and had served for 22 years in the U.S. Army, retiring in 1964. Following his retirement from the Army he was employed as a cook at the Torrance State Hospital, retiring there in 1981. Surviving are his wife, Elise Wachs Claycomb; a son, Conrad W. Claycomb, Elwood City; a daughter, Mrs.

Ivan (Susan) Hood, New Florence; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harry Claycomb, West Wego, and John Claycomb, Black Lick; and five sisters, Mrs. Mary Malloy, Turtle Creek; Mrs. Joseph (Irene) Mulvihill, Greensburg; Mrs. Charles (Alice) Cairns, New Alexandria; Mrs. Jay (Minnie) Ferringer, Plumville, and Mrs.

"Kitty" Peles Pangonis, 53, Indiana, died Monday, April 22, 1996, at Indiana Hospital. The daughter of Harry and Mary Kulic Peles, she was born Dec. 9, 1942, in Glen Campbell. Mrs. Pangonis was a member of St.

Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of America Court 339. both of Indiana. Surviving are her mother, Glen Campbell; her husband, Charles Pangonis; three daughters and four sons: Jeanne, Tressa, Katrina, Michael, Mark, Matthew and Edward, all of Indiana; one grandson, Kyle, Indiana; five brothers and three sisters: Harry, New Jersey; John, Glenn Campbell; Joseph, Starford; Lawrence, Commodore; Daniel, Glenn Campbell; Elizabeth Tenerowicz, Barnesboro; Alice Ann Rudzinski, Bridgeville; and Teresa "Terry" Klamar, Cherry Tree; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary Sank Mary Agnes Sank, 84, Seward RD 1 (Charles), died Tuesday, April 23, 1996, at her home. The daughter of Emery and Kathryn Ferenchak Matia, she was born Jan. 22, 1912, in Osceola Mills. Mrs. Sank was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Seward, and a 50-year resident of Charles.

Surviving are these children: Joseph, married to the former Magdalene Singel, Ellerslie, John, married to the former Rebecca Cady, North East; Mary Kathryn, married to Dr. Fred Legaspi, Clifton, and Michael, with whom she resided; grandchildren: Emily, Frederick and Eric Legaspi; Paul, Joseph and Christy Sank; and Adam Matia and wife, Florence, Osceola Mills; sisters: Pauline Toth, Indiana; Sophia, married to John Bohachick, Johnstown; and Anne, married to Rocco Laraia, Portland, sisters-in-law, Nellie Sank, Hooversville; and Helen Matia, Philipsburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Sposito was a member Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Sons' of Italy, and the Barnesboro VFW. He was formerly employed as a coal miner and by Wolfs Furniture Barnesboro. Surviving are two daughters, Yvonne, married to Gary Knox, Phoenix, and Carol Fagan, Homer City; two grandchildren, Dawn Knox and John Fagan; and these brothers and sisters: Angeline Alessi, Michigan; Richard, Flint, Thomas, Harrisburg; and Evelyn Compton, Florida.

He was preceded in death by parents; his wife, the former Betty E. Rhiner, who died in 1991; Brothers Louis, Joseph and Eugene; sisters Anna Dabella, Mary Kelly and Stella Smith; and son-in-law John Fagan. Friends were received in the Long-Contres Funeral Home Barnesboro, and a funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. Interment was made at the church cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by local veterans' organizations.

Darrell Woodrow Darrell Eugene Woodrow 63, Shelocta RD 2 (Armstrong Township), died Monday, April 22, 1996, at St. John's Hospital, Burn Unit, Springfield, as a result of injuries he received in a fire in his camper on April 17. He was vacationing in Arkansas. The son of Darrell Eugene and Julia Soster Woodrow he was born Nov.

30, 1932, in Iselin. Mr. Woodrow had lived in the area all his life. Prior to his retirement in 1980, he was employed as a crane operator for U.S. Steel in Vandergrift.

Surviving are his parents, Young Township; two daughters and one son: Mrs. Robert (Debbie) Lane, Grapeville; Patricia Haley, California; and Darrell Eugene III, Pittsburgh; 12 grandchildren and one great -grandchild; and two brothers, Ronald, Young Township, and Leslie, Cleveland, Ohio. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard James Woodrow, in 1972, and Marvin Dean Woodrow, in 1973; four children: Sherry and Ronald Woodrow, both in 1956; Michael and Richard Woodrow, both in 1995.
