Mrs. Clarence W. Matz Mrs. Clarence W. Matz, 67, 1809 24th a Sioux City resiexplosion, which apparently dent most of her life, died was cuased by a gas leak.

The Sunday night at her home after couple was vacationing in a long illness. Arizona. Joint services for the couple have been set tentatively for 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with the Rev.

H. H. Schauland officiating. Burial in Memorial Park Cemetery will be under the direction of the Nelson-Berger Northside Funeral Home. Pallbearers for Mrs.

Lehr will be Raymond Johnson, Adolph Peters, Tom, John and Hans Clausen and Herb Westergard. Mrs. Lehr, the former Ada Jeanette Vanden Brink, was born on Dec. 8, 1906, at Maurice, Iowa and came to Sioux City 45 years ago. She was married to Mr.

Lehr on March 28, 1931, in Sioux City. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Survivors of Mrs. Lehr include her son, Robert J.

of Sioux City; a brother, George Vanden Brink of Towson, a sister, Mrs. Don (Mathilda) Smith of Deerfield Beach, and six grandchildren. Mrs. Edward C. Lane Mrs.

Edward C. Lane, 89, 2403 W. Fourth died Monday at a Sioux City nursing home after a long illness. Mrs. Lane, the former Bertha Jeannette Means, was born Dec.

25, 1884, in Monona County, Iowa. She was married to Mr. Lane March 24, 1909, in Sioux City. He died Jan. 8, 1938, at Winnebago, Neb.

The couple farmed many years near Winnebago. She moved to South Sioux City in 1960 and to Sioux City in 1972. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church at Winnebago and the American Legion Auxiliary 174. Survivors include two sons, Harold and Wilson, both of Sioux City; four daughters, Corrine Lane and Mrs. Ann Huffman, both of Sioux City, Mrs.

Harlan (Jewel) Ives of Norwalk, and Mrs. Paul (Georgie) Meridith of Camp Verde, 21 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. The body was taken to the Jack Becker Funeral Home in South Sioux City. Mrs. Nelson F.

Jones Mrs. Nelson F. Jones, 69, Millis Beach, Dakota City, died Monday at a Sioux City hospital after a long ilIness. Mrs. Jones, the former Louise May Waite, was born March 30, 1905, at Lyons, Neb.

She was married to Mr. Jones Aug. 31, 1926, in Sioux City. She was employed as a housekeeper in Sioux City for 25 years for late State Sen. Charles Van Eaton, and for Rep.

Wiley Mayne, Victor Gunn, and former Sen. Jack Miller. She lived on a farm with her husband near Winnebago, until moving to Dakota City in 1946. She retired this year. Survivors include the widower; four sons, Donald F.

of Tucson, Raymond of South Sioux City, Kenneth and James, both of Dakota City; two sisters, Mrs. Leone Beeghley of Long Beach, and Mrs. Kathryn Twiford of Pender, and eight grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Jack Becker Funeral Home in South Sioux City.

The Rev. Felix Gross, of 1974 Tom Martin Director of Agency Announced Tom Martin has been named executive director of the Family Services Center, 2601 Douglas St. Martin, a native of Sloan, Iowa, took undergraduate and graduate work at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. Prior to coming to Sioux City, he was director of a residential treatment center with Lutheran Social Services in Sioux Falls. He replaces former director Harvey Plaschke.

Luke's Medical Center, to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Burns, Correctionville, Iowa, a son. $101,000 Suit Filed Against 2 Podiatrists A Colorado Springs, woman is suing two Sioux City podiatrists for $101,000 damages for alleged injury suffered during foot surgery. Elaine Fahnestock filed the action Monday in Woodbury County District Court against Dr.

Sydney D. Bergen and Dr. Randall Bergen. Ms. Fahnestock says that she consulted Dr.

Sydney Bergen in 1972 and he recommended surgery on a growth on her right foot. According to her petition, during surgery in August, 1972, Randall Bergen assisted with the operation, although he did not become licensed to practice medicine until July, 1973. She claims that the tissue of her foot was cut into excessively during surgery and that she since has suffered great pain and difficulty walking. Ms. Fahnestock1 is asking $100,000 general damages and $1,000 special damages.

Applications for KC Membership Given Approval Applications for membership to compose a class to be enrolled in the Knights of Columbus Dec. 15 were approved Sunday night at a meeting of Tierney Council 5660 at Nativity Parish Center. The enrollment ceremony will be conducted by the Tierney Council ritual staff under the direction of Carl Hestbech, ritual chairman. Committees were appointed to arrange for gifts at Christmas time for about 100 persons at the Woodbury County Home and 25 children at the Boys and Girls Home. An insurance night program was presented by James F.

Kestner of Le Mars, Iowa, a representative of the Knights of Columbus insurance department. Goodwill Again Plans Thanksgiving Dinner Wall Street Mission-Goodwill Industries, following a tradition of many years, will provide Thanksgiving dinner for a number of guests. The event will be Sunday at the Goodwill building with serving to begin at 12:30 p.m. and to continue until all are served. The guests will include Goodwill workers and their families, Goodwill clients and persons who otherwise wouldn't have a good holiday dinner.

Members of Goodwill Auxiliary, the Goodwill staff and volunteers from church and college groups will serve the meal and work in the kitchen. The big meal turkey and all the trimmings will be prepared at the Goodwill building. As in the past, funds for the meal have been provided by the friends of Wall Street Mission-Goodwill Industries. In Service Navy Fireman Recruit Kirk J. Wood, son of Mrs. Diane E. Gill, 1106 W. Second was graduated from recruit training Kirk J.

Wood at San Diego, Calif. He is scheduled to report to Electrician's Mate School in San Diego. Jeff Brondum and Bill Ruzicka, both of Pender, have joined the U.S. Army under the Delayed Enlistment Program. They will spend the Thanksgiving holiday with their families and then report for basic training.

They will attend advanced schooling and then serve in Hawaii for a minimum of 16 months on a guaranteed enlistment. Leonard P. Jensen has been promoted to sergeant in the U.S. Air Force at Mountain Home Air force Base, Idaho. Sgt.

Jensen, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Grant L. Jensen, 2532 S. Glass is an integrated avionics systems specialist with a unit of the Tactical Air Command.

He is a 1969 graduate of East High School. His wife, Rebecca, is the daughter of Mrs. D. Joan Major, Madison, Wis. Navy Seaman Phillipe D.

Webb, son of Mr. and Mrs. 0. C. Wilkinson, 410 Pierce recently was graduated from recruit training at the Naval Phillipe Webb Training Center, San Diego, Calif.

He will report to Electronics Technician School at Great Lakes, Ill. His wife, Darlene, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Rickabaugh of Salix, Iowa. Marine Cpl.

Charles E. Rothe, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ervin F. Rothe, 1612 Jones qualifed as a rifle expert while undergoing his annual marksmanship test.

Rothe serves with Marine Attack Squadron 231 at the Marine Corps Air Station, Cherry Point, N.C. A former student at Briar Cliff College, he joined the Marines in January of 1973. Marvin Berryhill Boys Club Director Appointed Marvin E. Berryhill has been appointed executive director of the Sioux City Boys Club. He has been associated with the club for the past four years as program and assistant director.

Berryhill is a 1970 graduate of Morningside College and a veteran of the Vietnam War. His wife is an elementary school teacher at Nodland School. The board of governors of the club made the announcement of his appointment. Jackson Man Accidentally Cuts Artery A Jackson, man was listed in "good" condition Monday night at St. Luke's Medical Center after apparently cutting an artery in his leg while installing carpet in his home.

South Sioux City police said a call was received about 4 p.m. Monday from Jackson authorities that Ervin Scott, of rural Jackson, was driving a car toward South Sioux City and was bleeding badly. Police officials notified the South Sioux City Rescue Squad of the incident, and they intercepted Scott at the South Sioux City limits on U.S. 20 and transported him to St. Luke's.

Authorities said Scott was reportedly laying carpet in his home when the carpet knife he was using slipped and cut an artery in his leg. 31st South Sioux City, a veterinarian, died of an apparent heart attack while duck hunting near Ponca, Monday evening. The body was found on an island duck blind in the Missouri River by a friend. The Ponca Rescue Squad rescued the body shortly after 9 p.m., sources said. The body was taken to the Jack Becker Funeral Home in South Sioux City, Sioux City Woman Accidentally Shot Mary A. Rouillard, 29, 514 Market was listed in "good" condition Monday night at St.

Joseph Mercy Hospital following a shooting accident at her residence, police reported. Ms. Rouillard was apparently taking a purse from a shelf when a pistol fell to the floor and discharged about 2 p.m., a report said. The bullet struck her legs. Police said Ms.

14. Guy Johnson Mrs. Matz, the former Frances A. McConville, was born Nov. 8, 1907, at Selby, S.D.

She moved to Sioux City with her family in 1909 and had lived her since. She was married to Clarence W. Matz Sept. 18, 1952, in Sioux City. Mrs.

Matz worked for Blue Cross for 25 years, retiring in 1969. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Survivors are the widower and two sisters, Mrs. Iva Thibodeau of Sioux City and Mrs.

Fern Conover of St. Paul. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

The Rev. Msgr. Edward C. Lilly will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of the Anderson-Perasso Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be C. K. Bland, Larry Graham, Ken Hansen, Grant Holman, Eldon Von Hagel and Jerry Teubner. The Rosary was recited Monday evening at the funeral home. Mrs.

Guy McMeekin Mrs. Guy McMeekin, 98, 3903 Winona Way, died Sunday at the home of her daughter after a lengthy illness. Mrs. McMeekin, the former Ada W. Hauser, was born Nov.

6, 1876, at Adaville, Iowa. She was married to Guy McMeekin April 2, 1906, at Le Mars, Iowa. They farmed near Pierre, S.D., until 1936, when they moved to Sioux City. Mr. McMeekin died Nov.

17, 1964, in Sioux City. Survivors include two sons, Grant of Sergeant Bluff and Wilfred of Los Angeles; a daughter, Mrs. Arville Lucille Hansen of Sioux City; a sister, Mrs. Edith Manz of Dunnellon, three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Services will be at 3 p.m.

Wednesday at the W. Harry Christy Funeral Home in Morningside. The Rev. E. G.

Pappadackis of Third Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tom and Harold Butler, Jerry Stroup, Bill Bower, Charles Cunningham and Harry Keller. Mrs. Jake Rotman Mrs.

Jake Rotman, 64, 3618 Pierce a Sioux City resident for 35 years, died Monday morning at a Sioux City hospital. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Shaare Zion Synagogue with Rabbi Ronald W. Garr and Cantor Harry Sterling officiating. Burial in Mount Carmel Cemetery will be under the direction of the RutledgeGulsrud Funeral Chapel.

Pallbearers will be Dave Leitsky, Mort and Jordan Fish, Sam Bernstein, Nate Goldberg and Kent Ivener. Mrs. Rotman, the former Gertrude Blustein, was born June 16, 1910, in Dubuque, Iowa. She was married to Jake Rotman in 1934 in Rock Island, Ill. She was a member of Shaare Zion Synagogue and its Women's League.

Survivors include the widower; a son, Philip of Omaha; a daughter, Mrs. Larry (Marilyn) Schwartz of Sioux City; two brothers, Maury Blustein of Chicago and Larry Blustein of Springfield, and three grandchildren. A memorial in Mrs. Rotman's name has been established with Shaare Zion Synagogue. DENISON, Iowa Guy John88, Denison, died Nov.

16 at son, a Denison rest home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Nov. 19 in the Maxwell Funeral Home at Denison. The Rev.

John Jones and the Rev. R. V. Turner of the RLDS Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Deloit Cemetery, Graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 8.

Mr. Johnson was born Dec. 29, 1886, in Crawford County. He married Eunice Dobson Dec. 31, 1922 at Council Bluffs.

He owned and operated a produce and lumber yard at Deloit until 1946. He then moved to Denison and operated a produce house. He sold that in 1957 and became the bailiff for the county. He retired in April of 1973. Mr.

Johnson was a veteran of World War a patriarch in the RLDS Church, and a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors include his widow; a brother, Sheldon Schafer of Denton, and two sisters, Mrs. Irene Schuler of Sioux City and Mrs. Rose Boyd of Hornick. Mrs.

John Osterkamp, 89, Hawarden, Iowa, Nov. 18; services 1:30 p.m. Nov. 21, First Baptist Church, Hawarden; Dow Funeral Home, Hawarden. Mrs.
