Sonics93, Knicks82 By Associated Press ORLANDO, Fla. Reserve Dennis Scott hit four three-pointers and scored 18 of his 32 points in the second quarter as the Orlando Magic won its fiburth straight game, beating the Golden State Warriors 132-98 Sunday. The Atlantic Division leaders got 38 of their 40 second-quarter points from the bench. Shaquille O'Neal scored 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds before resting the final 10 minutes. Every Orlando player who played scored at least four points, and even fan Chip Johnson got into the act making a halfcourt shot between the third and fourth quarters to win a 526,000 ski boat.

Latrell Sprewell had 25 points and Carlos Rogers 22 for Golden State, which lost its fourth consecutive game. Orlando's winning streak follows a three-game losing streak, its longest of the season. The Magic led 33-24 after one period and outscored the Warriors 40-17 in the second quarter to open a 32-point halftime lead. O'Neal was the only starter to score during the surge, making the only field goal he attempted in the final minute of the half. Scott made 7 of 9 shots in the second quarter, including all four of the three-pointers he attempted.

Jeff Turner, meanwhile, was 3-for-3 from beyond the arc in the period. Orlando's Nick Anderson sat out the final three quarters because of tendinitis in his left knee. Teammate Anfernee Hardaway, who has played the last three games with a dislocated finger, left midway through the third quarter and did not return. Kings'! 04, Timberwolves 98 MINNEAPOLIS Mitch Richmond scored 18 of his 23 points in the second half Sunday as the Sacramento Kings pulled away from Minnesota for a 104-98 victory. Richmond hit three three-pointers and scored 13 points in a 24-10 run that started the third quarter as the Kings won for just the fifth time in 20 games.

The rally opened up a 70-56 lead, and Sacramento kept the Wolves from mounting a serious challenge in the fourth period. Spud Webb had 21 points and eight assists for Sacramento, which is battling Denver for the eighth and final Western Conference playoff spot. Christian Laettner had 23 points and Sean Rooks added 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Wolves, who have lost nine of 12. Minnesota closed to 103-96 on a three-pointer by Tom Gugliotta with 53 seconds to TACOMA, Wash. Gary Payton scored 26 points and made a career-best five three-pointers as the Seattle SuperSonics beat New York 93-82 and swept the Knicks for the first time since the 1987-88 season.

Payton scored 10 points in the third quarter when the Sonics outscored the Knicks 27-12 and took command of the game. The Sonics won their fourth straight game and ended the Knicks' two-game winning streak. Consecutive bogeys on 4, 5 take Norman out of chase from page B1 He had won only $55,000 this year but that increased tenfold with the $540,000 first-place money here.

The wind calmed down Sunday and a gentle breeze followed the players, but the damage was already done. The 30 mph gusts of the last few days turned the course into a hard, fast layout on which par was an score. Time after time, it would appear a player had hit a good shot only to see the ball rolling endlessly past the hole. "They are as hard as rock and as fast as you-know-what," Doc Gray, caddie for Donie Hammond, said early in the day Sunday. "If the wind comes up, 4-under could win it," Gray said.

The wind didn't come up and it took 5-under to win. Contender after contender fell back on the back nine. Larry Mize, Billy Andrade and Joe Ozaki were the only others to break par, finishing at 1-under 287. Scott Simpson, Biran Claar and Steve Strieker finished at even par. Norman played himself out of any chance to successfully defend his title when he three-putted No.

4 and hit one in the water on No. 5 for consecutive bogeys. He shot 40 on the front nine and 77 for the day, finishing at 6-over 294, 30 strokes higher than he shot in last year's tournament. The biggest shot was the sand shot on No. 17.

"It's the only time anywhere you have a 9-iron or 8-iron in your hand and all you are trying to do is get the ball on land," Janzen said about No. 17. "It seems like I don't ever hit that green," he said. "I must lead the tour in hitting the island but missing the green." He closed the win with a gutsy par on the water-lined 18th hole when he rolled in a 5-footer. Janzen's 5-under total of 283 was 19 strokes higher than Greg Norman's winning score last year.

But it was a monumental achievement on this year's rock-hard TPC course at Sawgrass. Janzen, who has now won five tournaments in four years, including the 1993 U.S. Open when he was also paired with Stewart in the final round, was only 79th on the money list coming into this tournament and was struggling. He had been criticized for changing equipment, changing caddies and just not winning. "When you win the Open you become sort of a dart board," Janzen said.

"When you don't play well you get criticized." Harper 1-2, Davis 1-2), Los Angeles 1-11 (Richardson 1-4, Vaught 0-1, Ellis 0-1, Dehere 0-1, Murray 0-4). Fouled out None. Second-seeded Stanford had a 69-58 victory over fourth-seeded Purdue, the last surviving member of last year's Final Four.

The Cardinal, who won national titles in 1991 and '92, aren't awed by Connecticut. "We have time to get ready for them," Coach Tara VanDerveer said. "Virginia showed they are vulernable." Victories by Tennessee and Connecticut on Saturday would set up a rematch of their Jan. 16 game at Storrs, which cost Tennessee its No. 1 ranking.

Connecticut won 77-66 and was No. 1 the rest of the season. Early in the season, Tennessee routed Stanford 105-69 at home. Stanford then won 15 straight before suffering its only other loss, 78-73 at Oregon State. Getting to the Final Four this season was especially significant for Tennessee seniors Nikki McCray and Dana Johnson.

Had the Lady Vols not made it, they would have become the school's only senior class never to have played in the Final Four. "It felt great to get that monkey off our back, so I won't have to hear that you're the' only class that hasn't been to a Final Four," Johnson said. Georgia made it for the third time. UConn played in the 1991 Final Four. Connecticut's flawless season gives the Huskies, led by AIl-American forward Rebecca Lobo, a chance to become only the second unbeaten national champion. Texas was 34-0 in 1986.
