Betterton Pleads Guilty. Monroe Betterton plead guilty to murder before tbe court at Mt. Vernon last week and received a sentence of 00 years in the penitentiary. On December 28, 1000, Betterton killed bis common law wife on the railroad track betweeu Mouett aud Pierce City. It will be remembered that a short time after ihe body of tbe woman was discovered Betterton was arrested and to Chief of Police Jackson of Mo nett admitted his guilt.

He said the woman, known as Hoa Hudson, was his common law wife, a full blood Choctaw Indian, with whom he bad been living since the death of his wile. They had a quarrel white walking from Pierce City to Monett and the death of the woman resulted. Better-ton formerly resided in Barry county.
