Although the entire route was lined with onlookers, there were no -incidents and little heckling during the parade that took nearly an hour.

A cross-burning and rally was scheduled for Saturday night in what has been a statewide effort this spring and summer to demonstrate that the KKK is nothing to be feared and is composed of neighbors and friends. A similar parade was staged last weekend at Clewiston, in the Florida panhandle. Among the participants in both parades was John Paul Rogers, grand dragon of the Florida Klan. He wore a light green robe and rode the only horse in the Davie parade. Rogers, a 37-year-old Lake Wales barber, and his horse followed the parade leader, who carried a bible, and four men carrying flags.

Although nearly all the marchers wore their hoods, they were not masked, in accordance with Florida law which requires parade marchers to show their faces. Sheraton showplace! Direct from Innisbrook! community of 18,500 known for its' horse stables and country atmosphere began three years ago when members asked permission to march in the Boy Scouts' annual Memorial Day parade, In answer to the request, the scouts canceled the parade. A city or- dinance was then passed to limit any parades to one organization, a mea: sure that allowed the scouts to ban klansmen. Efforts to hold a parade were. turned down by the town council, until this year when it was decided ta allow it because of the turmoil that resulted when a Nazi group tried to march through Skokie, III. The council voted 3-2 last week to issue the parade permit to the United: Klans of America.

"Primarily, the reason we gave. them the permit was due to the -events in Skokie," said Davie Mayor Jim DeLeo. "We do not in any way en-, dorse the Klan or its principles or i precepts." 24-oz. Shaker can. LIMIT 1 CLAIROL FINAL NET -339' 1 3-types.
