Lots of bod colds in this vicinity at present. Roy Ramey returned to La Junta, Colorado, last week after a ten days stay with homefolks. It is thought that the new phone line from Seligman to Roaring will be under construction in the McDowell. Health and spirits good in this locality. Miss Hallie Hilton has gone to Crane where she will attend school for a few months.

The blacksmith has been doing a rushing business since the ice has been on, but it is now about to disperse leaving no broken or bruised bones in its wake. John Smith's gave a musical Saturday night. Those present were Alfred Smith and family, Misses Laura Pennell, Lecta Marbut, Gertie Todd and Clarissa, Martha, Hattie and Bessie Bennett and Messrs. Elson, Lish and Elbert Fly. Oliver and Porter Gallon, Cecil and Orus Ozbun, Tom Marbut, Eldon Pennell and Charley Todd.

Our mother was horn in the state of Kentucky July, 5, 1829, was con verted when young, and touted tne Missionary Baptist church and was a beloved member to the day of her death. Her body was laid beside her companion and husband, William H. Cooper, in the Missionary Baptist cemetery one hair mile west of Shell Knob where they will await the call which we will all hear and obey. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Ed Chappell of Mano on Sunday.

Jan. 2. This service Included both father and mother. Text, Revelations 14:13, "And I heard a voice from Heaven saying unto me, 'write, Blessed are the dond which die In the Lord from henceforth yea, salth the- Spirit, that they may rest from their labors and their works do follow them." Our loving father and mother leave ten of us children living, and while we feel our earthly loss we rest assured of Heaven's gain, and we can not do anything that would show our love for them better than try to aerve the God that spared their lives ao long on this earth, the God they served and our God. May It be the will of that loving God to bless us and may we be an unbroken family around His throne.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all those who aided us during the illness and death of father and mother. Children. Mrs. Calaarioe Daanevaat Dead. Mrs.

Catharine Dunnevant of Mineral Spring died at the home of Mrs. Eppie Baker In this city Saturday morning, Jan. 8, 1910, of pneumonia. Mrs. Dunnavant had two weeks ago eom to spend the winter with Mrs.

Baker. She contracted pneumonia. Her case was serious from the beginning and at her advanced age, 77 years, was not able long to endure It. Mrs. Dunnevant has lived at Mineral Spring for yeara where she was held in highest esteem.

She was a member of the M. E. church and the members of that church in Cassviile made her the object of their special care during her Illness bere. Funeral services were held at the M. E.

church Sunday morning at 10 o'clock by Rev. DuBols. Her remains were Interred at Mineral Spring Sunday afternoon. 23, closed a very successful school at this place. About noon several of the patrons gathered in and a bounteous dinner was spread which was enjoyed by all. Afternoon a nice program was carried out by the pupils, after which a nice treat was passed which was enjoyed by all. Mis Nola has taught us a good school and we wlh her success wherever she may go. Evorybody come. Tom Stemmons and wife have returned home after a short visit with relatives and friends There is only three weeks more of our school. Everybody come the last day and have a good time. We learn that Ira Stocton, Warren Doty, J. D.

Long and son, John, are preparing to go to Dakota when the other boys return. Selifmaa. Frank Skelton has returned from Arkansas. Miss Ova Roller went io Cassviile-to enter school. Dabbs Mitchell are shipping stock from here.

Small fruit plants are scarce the country over and high. Mrs. Ruhow and daughter, Jessie, will visit in Iowa soon. Bascomb Baldwin thinks of going to Oregon county to buy fur. A number of "booze fighters" were in evidence here Saturday night.

Sam Osborne is in Jefferson City this week taking an examination in pharmw-y. A. R. Osborne who is travelling for the National Distributing Co. was visiting here last week.

Wedding. Price, Skelton etal who went to Washington last fall are well satisfied and doing well. H.M.Murray has a flock of one hundred R. C. It.

I. Reds and la getting more eggs than Carter has oats. The Fruit Growers' Association met Saturday and a good acreage of cantaloupes and strawberries were subscribed. Hogs must bo pretty high when the head brings eleven and one-half cents per pound. For particulars see Finn or Cato.

C. W. Beaver will put out quite an acreage of small fruits this rear. He has an Ideal fruit farm and will succeed beyond a question. James Sons' new strawberry named Son's Prolific is being introduced this year by the McNallie Fruit farm, Sarcoxie, Mo.

Berry Periman and Homer Head are fixing to leave for Kansas in a few days. LafePIummer hashjs saw mill in operation at the mouth of the mouth of Big Creek Claud Brock has returned from Washington where lie has been a year. He likes that country fine. A needle an inch and a half long was found In Daisy Perlman's arm. It is not giving her much trouble.

The Misses Dotson Who spent Christmas week with home folks returned Sunday to where they are Dry Hollow. Written for last week. Miss Jean Wallace went to Sellg-man Friday on business. Morse Montgomery is home on a vacation-from Belpre, Kan. Ike Gibhart and J.

H. Brewer were in the Hollow Sunday. They are at work on the telephone from Seligman to the Hollow. Mr. Arbuckle has his new house almost completed in Pyburn Hollow.

Grandma Hayes is visiting her daughter, Grace Sills, on Roaring river. Gust Puitt is home on a visit. She Js attending school at Washburn. Tt, A. Stapp went to Cassviile last Friday after a load for Mr.

Arbuckle. Mr. and Mrs. Hart spent Xmas with Mr. Hart's parents at Benton-vllle, Ark.

Lon Phelps of Colorado Is visiting here. Killing fish is the order of the day now. One of Mrs. Trsntham's sisters is visiting here now. U.

8. Riddle is conducting a singing school at Jenkins. The Holiness people baptised four at Flat creek Sunday evening. Harris Wilson and wife of Madry were here during the bad weather. Eran Cobb and family were visiting at Madry Saturday and Sunday.

Nute Purdom's little boy fell and fractured his skull one day last week. Our merchant has sold his stock of goods to A. B. Henson of Crane. Clio has no store now.

Jack Galloway was down one day last week and offered J. W. Riddle 1176 for a mare. How does that sound for bard times. We hear that Jenkins has a good show to get the new railroad.

1 guess we will hear the train whistle when It starts to cross the new bridge. Toreet Grave, Only two mora weeks of school. Ab Baker's have a very sick child. Mrs. Jane Hall visited relatives around the Grove last week.

There are two new phone lines being built out of Seligman, one running to roaring river und one goes through the neighborhood, ending at Seiver Roller's. ML Pleasant Backward winter like weather at present. Uncle Ike has- been absent for some time but he is back again. School began in this district last Monday with Clarence Gardner teacher. Rev.

G. A. Ferguson 'of Aurora came down Monday to help in the meeting. The people met and organized Sunday school last Sunday. We wish them success.

Ben Terry filled his regular ap pointment west of Cassviile last sunday. We were glad to hear from Clayton, New as we have friends In that part. Read the Republican if you want to bear from your friends the country over. Lawrence Klckle has a bad finger caused by a pine splinter run under the hail. He has been laid up for aoout tnree weeks.

Wnl. Porter of Woodlake, writes that country Is all O. K. to make money but more pleasure to live In old Barry county. The religious revival being held at the Corinth Baptist church southwest of town is the most successful meeting held In that vicinity for fifteen years.

The whole community seems to be taking an active Interest and the meeting Is having a far-reaching effect. Up to date slMiut 22 converslona are reported. The meeting may continue several days yet.
