Hodge, Supt. of the Exeter Schools, Gotlleb Barlow, Supt. of the Washburn Schools, Mr. Bohannou, Supt. at Sellgman, and Mrs.

Prier, Supt. of the Ilutterfield schools, were In Columbia Feb. 10 and 11 attending a meeting of school superintendents. A little Snodgrass child, north ol Exeter, was under quarantine last week as Dr. Newman was called to see the sick child, pronounced the trouble Scarlet fever.

He also asked that the grades of the Exeter school be closed for a few days as a precautionary measure. No other case developed and the schools at Exeter are in session again this week. auies Brown, was born March 2 9 1S67. For the past 38 years he had lived in Barry county. For 13 years his home had been in the Horner communitv southeast of Cassville. He was twice married. His first wife passed away in January 1927.

In October 1928 ho was united in mr.rriage to Hickox. Surviving are his wife, one brother. T. F. Brown; one sister, Mrs.

Elizabeth Calvey. both of Springfield; also three nieces and a nephew. Funeral services werp lielil at Hie Christian church in Cassville Friday I afternoon, Feb. 18th. Rev.

Chas. Vanzandt of Exeter conducted the services. Burial was in the Oak Hill cemetery at Cassville, the Horine-Culver undertakers in charge. In his passing the community in which he lived and Barry county-lost a good, highly esteemed citizen. The new $25,000 High school auditorium at Berryville was dedicated yesterday, Wednesday.

SCHOOL NOTES iBy Burnham Meador i The Cassville High School Wildcats went to Wheaton Friday night to find the reason why lieatoii a perfect conference record, and before they got back they had lost two ball games.

Both games were very close until the last quarter when the Wheaton Bulldogs started a scoring spree that put both games on ice for them. The score of the "Ii" game was 2 2 to 1 in favor of Wheaton. The game was a thriller from start to finish. Neither team cou'd get a lead of over 4 points and the lead changed hands several times. 1 At the end of the third quarter the score was tied 13 to 13.

The Bull-. dogs then started a rally that couldn't be stopped and they went 'on to win 20 to 15. Charles Salvvr i was high point mail for Cassville with points. 1 These games ended the Barry County Conference. Wheaton won 1 both the and divisions with Cassville taking second in both divi-I sions.

The Wildcats go to Eureka Springs, Friday night for a re-! turn game with the Eureka Springs quintets. Eureka defeated Cassville team a few weeks ago and the I boys are going hack to get revenge for that defeat. The Cassville High School Invitation Basketball Tournament will be held the second week in March in the new gymnasium. Invitations have been sent to 35 schools in southwest Missouri and northwest Arkansas. A large tournament is expected.

The Cassville Debate teams are planning to go to the debatej tournament at Bolivar Friday. They won second place in the Crane Tournament and are expecting to make a good showing in this tournament. During the high water the furnace room in the new gymnasium was flooded and there has not been any heat in the gym for a week. Be-I cause of this the class tournaments I are unable to continue. The music department also has been unable to rehearse.

The student body enjoyed a picture show sponsored by the Nation--al Forest Service, of our national forests, forest fire prevention, conservation of wild life, and the lumber industry were shown. The annual staff is working hard on the annual for this year. Pictures of the classes were taken last week and work is progressing nicely. The student council met Monday and plans for the assemblies for the remainder of the year were made. Among those from a distance renewing their subscription to the REPUBLICAN the past week, are Mr. and Mrs. John Magers of Compton, Calif. Before going west they lived in the Golden community, and John lived when a boy in the Pasley community south of Cassville. Frank Munday of Aurora, visited with friends in Cassville Thursday of last week.

Frank is a nephew of the late Warren Munday, who forty years ago had a store in Cassville. Frank is a cousin of Will Munday, now of Joplin. He is connected with the Mid-West Map company at Aurora. Herman Ball of the Munsey community on -Roaring River, was in Cassville Friday, to have sale bills printed, advertising his public sale which was held yesterday at the old Frank Tucker farm. His sale consisted of horses and cows, laxgely, and household goods.

Mrr Ball leaves this -week for Oregon. He was in Oregon most nf last year. Miss Marie Baker, a medical patient at the Burge hospital in Springfield, was reported as very ill Friday morning. Mrs. Mattie Baker went to Springfield Thursday afternoon to be with her daughter.
