Blountstown and runner-up Clermont topped the 2-A squad with three players each being picked on the first unit. Dunnellon High Coach Richard Ken- nedy said Young being named All-State capped off a super year for the just adds icing on the cake," said a happy Kennedy.

"I think it will help Al next year, giving him an added goal. Everyone will be after him next year -1 Young, a 5-10, 170-pound junior, led the area in rushing (1,947 yards), total scoring (156 points) and most touch- downs (24) as Dunnellon recorded an 8-3 record. "Hernando High is proud to be represented by George Floyd on the All-State team," said Hernando Athletic Director and defensive backfield Coach Tom Darby about the six-foot, 175-pound senior, who received a football scholarship from Eastern Kentucky University recently. Floyd, who was named to The Tribune's All-Area team three straight years, set two school records last fall by picking off four passes against Pasco and concluded the year with nine overall, WILLISTON Coach Leo Carvalis, was upset over having only one player on the third team and none on the first two teams. "When you win the district championship and advance to the quar terfinals of the state playoffs you have-to have quality players," said Carvalis.

"Wildwood had three on the second! team. We beat them to win our district; title. We manhandled Chiefiand and; Tavares and they each had one on the first team and the second team. Currelly made 32 of those points from field goals and the 6-foot-llii and got 12 of those 16 baskets consecutively. Currelly was also the game's high rebounder with 11. But Currelly's career high effort was two points shy of putting his Bucs in the winning column as Gulf dropped its fifth straight game and slipped to a 3-7 record. Tarpon's record is now 7-4. A six field goal, two free throw quarter by Currelly helped Gulf keep things close at 41-40 at halftime.

The Spongers picked up their biggest lead in the third quarter as Dave Ely hit four long bombs in a row to give Tarpon a 55-50 lead with 3:32 to go in the period. The see-saw match continued as the Bucs, with help from 6-foot-8 Jack Schmidt, were able to knock off Tarpon's edge and put together a small lead of their own. From that point, the lead changed nine times. "Both teams played a good game," said first year Tarpon Coach Stan Ely. "Their big players inside really dominated the game.

They did some good internal passing. They really scored well onus. "We're averaging 7 1 .3 points and we hope to stay above that," Ely said.
