WILLIAM S. REED L.F.D. ADVERTISEMENT TODAY'S THOUGHT By JACK G. YENT The "good ole days" Time and time again this expression has been spoken with reverence. It seems that there is something about the past that is irresistible.

The present just cannot meet the past's standards. Yet what all the years of industry and civilization done for us? Would you have been happier in ancient times or even 100 to 150 years ago in America? Perhaps we have the tendency to day dream in this respect. When we think of ourselves in ancient times or in times past, we are not poor slaves, poor farmers rather we think of ourselves as members of aristocracy. We could be sitting in Athens listening to Socrates we could be debating in the Roman Senate we could be knights riding with Charlemagne. What was life really like in America 150 years ago? Was it really the "good ole One thing people did not have to worry about was pollution because life was brief.

The average life span of a male was a hard, grueling 38 years! The average work week was 72 hours. The women fared even worse. They worked an average of 98 hours a week. They had no fresh vegetables in the wintertime. Vitamin deficiency was prevalent.

Homes were sweltering in the summer cold in the winter. We wonder What are "Good ole your feelings? JACK G. YENT, President, F. T. BLOUNT COMPANY FUNERAL HOMES our 62nd year, Tampa and Lutz-Land O' Lakes.

THE TAMPA TRIBUNE-TIMES, Sunday, August 12, 1979 9-B Nuisance Suits Targeted DALLAS (UPI) A group of lawyers and doctors attending the Bar Association convention announced Saturday the formation of an organization designed to sue lawyers who file unfounded and malicious lawsuits.

Ellis Rubin, 54, a Miami trial attorney elected president of the group, said Lawyers Protecting People from Malicious and Unjustified Lawsuits Inc. was designed to reduce the increasing number of nuisance cases being filed nationwide. Pope Eulogizes Cardinal Wright Rubin, who said he won the first such malicious prosecution case in 1977 with a $175.000 verdict for his orthopedie surgeon client, said the organization also hoped to reduce crowded court dockets caused by the filing of such suits. Rubin said nuisance suits often were designed to extract a settlement before trial even though the merits of such cases did not warrant filing them. He said the organization would represent doctors, others in the health profession and police officers.

Wright, the highest ranking American in the Vatican, was eulogized Saturday by Pope John Paul Il as a man "who lived an exemplary life dedicated to pastoral service." The 70-year-old Boston-born born clergyman, reknowned for his ability as an orator, died Friday night at Youville Rehabilitation and Chronic Disease Hospital after a lengthy illness. Pope John Paul 11, who reappointed Wright to a second term as prefect of the congregation of the clergy at the Vatican, reportedly was planning to visit the ailing cardinal in Boston on Oct. 1 before going to the United Nations.

The funeral will be held Friday morning at Holy Name Church in Boston's West Roxbury section. Cardinal Humberto Medeiros will return from a trip Ireland to conduct the service. Attending will be Cardinals John Cody of Chicago and John Carberry of St. Louis and Archbiship Jean Jadot, the epistolic delegate from the Holy See in Washington, D.C. Burial will be in a family plot in Brookline.

Wright frequently addressed Protestant and Jewish groups, wrote articles and was often involved in cultural and civic events. He also had a reputation as a theological conservative and a social militant. In Rome, Wright was responsible for the supervi-, sion of some 350,000 Roman Catholic priests around the world. He was first appointed to the post by Pope Paul VI in May 1969, a few days after he was elevated to the College of Cardinals. Wright had been ailing over the past two years.

In 1978, he underwent surgery to correct a neuromuscular disorder in his legs that confined him to a wheelchair. The surgery kept him from attending the opening of the conclave in Rome where John Paul I was elected, but he returned to the Vatican for the election of John Paul II. Wright is survived by one sister and two brothers. HUTTO'S $1.09 GLADS COR. N.
