MONDAY, NOVEMBER T, 188B BLTTHEVILLB (ARK.) COTJRIER NEWS PAGE SEVEN A GROWING CITY NEEDS PROGRESSIVE COVEMIMENT Old Fashioned, Small Town, One Man Managemenl Is Out Of Place In Growing Blylheville As Your Mayor: TOLER ii/ii I BUCHANAN WILL TOLER U/ll I BUCHANAN WILL TOLER II/H I BUCHANAN WILL TOLER ii/ii I BUCHANAN WILL TOLER ii/ii I BUCHANAN WILL Give full cooperation to the city council, for I believe that nine heads are better than one for Blytheville's progress. Bring much needed leadership and system to the police department, because he feels that this is Blytheville's No. 1 problem. Institute complete and regular system of public accounting of all incomes and expenditures of all depa rtments of city government. Proceed with the present council's progressive program to expand the facilities of our excellent fire department. Provide qualified supervision for the City Engineering Department to insure greater efficiency in street in.provement, garbage disposal, inspection and city planning. The above is my platform. My opponent has stated his. The credit he claims for himself should rightfully be given to the citizens of Blytheville who gave of their time and money to accomplish these things. . . NOT TO THE MAYOR. The mayor's principal responsibilities are (1) the operation of City Departments, including Police and Engineering and (2) proper handling and proper reporting of City finances, MY OPPONENT HAS PURPOSELY OMITTED BOTH OF THESE FROM HIS PLATFORM. In the face of the rapid growth of our City THE PUBLIC KNOWS that the efficiency of our present Police and Engineering Departments IS THE LOWEST IN THE HISTORY of Blytheville. My opponent's statement on the financial condition of the City is completely wrong. The CITY IS BROKE! (A fact publicly stated in an editorial in this paper on October 31st, 1955.) WHY DID MY OPPONENT OMIT THESE FACTS FROM HIS PLATFORM? VOTE WITH THE MAJORITY FOR PROGRESSIVE GOVERNMENT VOTE FOR TOLER BUCHANAN Candidate For Mayor NOVEMBER 8, 1955 MUNICIPAL ELECTION Political Ad Paid For By TOLER BUCHANAN
