1 1 1 1 Obituaries Of The Area And Others L. E. CAMPBELL DIED AFTER LONG ILLNESS Lee Ellisworth Campbell, 68, of near Johnstown died at 11:30 p.m., Jan. 8, at the Clinton General Hospital after several years of illness. He was a veteran of World War I and has been retired since being discharged.

He was a son of the late Henry Duncan Campbell and Nettie E. Morrison. is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Stella Nail, Kansas City, Mrs. Clara Pettus, Mrs.

W. F. (Edna) Bramell, Clinton; and Mrs. Wesley Hutson, Trenton; three brothers, William H. Campbell, Chester Campbell, Clinton; and Melvin Campbell, Oelwein, la.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Sickman-Dunning Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 10, The Rev. S. Richard Wallis will officiate with burial in the Urich Cemetery. JOHN STREAN RITES JANUARY 8 Last rites for John David Strean, 65, 512 South McLane, Clinton, were conducted at 2:00 p.

Tuesday, Jan. 8 by the Rev. S. Richard Wallis, at the Consalus Funeral Home. Organist Sarah Margaret Gilbert accompanied soloist Norman Greene.

Pallbearers were Earl Strean, Everett Strean, Leslie Strean, Gene Pennington, Chester Pennington and Buddy Ray Lawson. John David Strean was born Aug. 5, 1897, near, Moberly, the son of Samuel and Mary Jane Chaney Strean. Mr. Strean was a member of the First Baptist Church, Clinton, where he fully appreciated and enjoyed his membership.

He was united in marriage to Lennie Leota Jenkins on April 12, 1919. To this union four children were born. Mr. and Mrs. Strean made their home in Moberly, from 1916 to 1924, and at that time moved to Clinton and established their home.

Mr. Strean was a carpenter by trade and had been employed by several contracting firms of Clinton during his working days. He had been employed by the State Casket Company, 117 North Washington Clinton, the past eight years. Surviving are the wife Lennie of the home, two daughters, Mrs. Billy Northrop C.

B. Carter, Clinton; four grandchil dren: one sister. Mrs. Rachel Overfelt, Clinton; one brother, Jess Strean, Moberly; a number of nieces and nephews. A son, J.

D. died at birth and one daughter, Charlene died April 28, 1948. SERVICES FOR MRS. McQUEEN WERE HELD JAN. Funeral services for Mrs.

Mary Gladys McQueen, 56, Kansas City, who died after a long illness, at 9:45 a. Sunday, Jan. 6, at the Kansas City General Hospital were conducted at the Consalus Chapel, Wednesday, Jan. 9, by the Rev. Hugh Sperry, long time friend and neighbor of the family.

Interment was in wood Cemetery. Organist Sarah Margaret Gilbert accompanied soloist Eugene R. Consalus. Pallbearers were nephews Keith Carleton, Junior Carleton, Billy Carleton, Kenneth Carleton, Travis Cox and Elbert Crowder. Mary Gladys Carleton McQueen was born March, 29, 1906 at Leesville, the youngest' daughter of the late William P.

and Mary Frances Carpenter Carleton. She united early in life with the Leesville Methodist Church. On March 3, 1926 she married George F. McQueen. To this union were born five children, who with their father, survive.

(Wanda) McPherson, Overland Park, Mrs. Joseph (Willa Mae) Nelson, Grandview; Dwayne McQueen, Oakland, George F. McQueen III of the United States Navy stationed at present in the state of Rhode Island. All the children were present for last rites. Six grandchildren survive namely Ferrell En Yart, Mary Jane Traves, Bobby Joe and Todd MePherson and Joseph Matthew Nelson.

Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Lyle (Cecil) Chambers, Kansas City, three brothers, J. M. Carleton, Clinton; W. E.

Carleton, Sedalia; C. C. Carleton, Warrensburg; and a host of relatives and friends. Gladys was blessed with a kind gentle nature, which radiated happiness to all those around her. CLINONIANS' BROTHER DIED IN KANSAS CITY Glen Kelly Houtchens, 65, Kansas City, died Monday, Jan.

7, at his home of a heart attack. Mr. Houtchens was born in Monmouth, and lived several years at Deepwater. Hie moved some 20 years ago to Kansas. Before retiring, three years ago he was employed by the Weatherproofing Products Corporation of Kansas City.

He leaves nis wife, Florence Houtchens of the home; four daughters, Mrs. Betty Hettinger, Kansas City, Mrs. Arlene Stump, Belton, Mrs. Margaret Scurti, Louisburg, Mrs. Joan Perkins, Red Oak, two sons, Glen Kansas City, and Darrell Glenwood, four brothers, Garland and Ross, Stanton, Emmet, Clinton, and twin brother, Lynn, Mampa, three sisters, Mrs.

Ruth Drake, Clinton, Mrs. Roxie Arnold. Kansas City, Mrs. Crystal Madlock, t. Louis.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Jan. 9, 1963 at Blackman Chapel, Kansas City. Interment in Green Lawn Cemetery. Mr. and Mrs.

Emmett Houtchens and son, Delton, left the local airport at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, to attend last rites. MRS. H. GRONER BURIAL AT MONTROSE Last rites were held at 9:00 a. Wednesday, Jan.

9, at the Immaculate Conception Church, Montrose, for Mrs. Henrietta Josephine Groner, 76, the pastor, Rev. Urban 0. Iffert, officiating. She was found dead in her home Sunday noon, Jan.

6, of an apparent heart attack. The Rosary was recited at 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 8, at the Sick. ning Funeral Home, Clinon. Burial was in St.

Mary's Cemstery. Casketbearers were grandson, Duke Janson, Ben Janson, James and Roger Steinbach, Henry Steinhoff and Ronald V. Bartels. Henrietta Josephine Kliethermes was born, Nov. 6, 1886, at Loose Creek the daughter of Mr.

and Mrs. Jacob Kliethermes. Montrose had been her home for 42 years. She IS survived by five daughters, Mrs. Mike (Cecilia) Ehren, Cuba, Mrs.

Josephine (Clara) Steinhoff, Mrs. Gregory (Emma) Janson, Mrs. George (Lucy) Steinbach, St. Louis and Mrs. Virgil (Hedda) Bartels, Montrose; two sisters, Mrs.

Christine Bernhorst, Westphalia and Katie Helkemeyer, Rich Fountain; three brothers. Joe and Pete Kleithermes, Loose Creek; and Henry Kleithermes, Meta, and a number of relatives and friends. EYE Thursday, 10, 1963-5A Jim Penn Social Security Agent In Clinton Jim Penn assumed duties as the Social Security representative for Clinton the first of the year, replacing Willis Arnold who had been the representative for the past year. Penn has been the social representative for Lafayette and Carroll Counties for the last two years. His district office is in Sedalia and in Clinton the office is located in the Courtesy Room of the Union State Bank.

He is there each Tuesday, at 1:00 p.m., and will be glad to answer questions and assist on Social Security matters. The new representative states that people wishing to file for Social Security could make an appointment by obtaining a questionnaire form in the lobby of the post office and mailing it to the Social Security office in Sedalia, Mo. DR. A. STERLING WARD AT PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH Sunday, Jan.

13, is Seminary Sunday in the United Presbyterian Church. USA. The guest speaker at the hour fo common worship of the First Presbyterian Churchy, Clinton, will be the Rev. Sterling Ward, Director of Field Relations and Professor of the Church Administration of Saint Paul School of Theology Methodist, Kansas City, Dr. Ward has as pastor of Methodist churches across the Missouri Conference and as a chaplain in the United States Army before coming to the faculty of the Seminary.

He received his Bachelor of Divinity Degree from Southern Methodist University and his Doctor of Theology Degree from Boston University. The Presbyterian Church is grateful for the assistance offered by this Seminary of its sister denomination and looks forward to the words of direction offered by Dr. Ward in these crucial days in the life of the church.
