AN ALL WHEN EXTRA The Marshall News Messenger, Friday, July 15, 2005' 7A Man found with $30,000 in drugs, stolen car Staff Reports Marshall police officers who responded early Wednesday to reports that a man had seemingly passed out at the wheel of his car ultimately arrested the man and charged him with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, five counts of possession of a controlled substance and unlawfully carrying a weapon, according to police reports. Gerald Thomas Wesson, 25, a Ben Wheeler resident, was taken to Harrison County Jail. Ben Wheeler is 12 miles southeast of Canton. The vehicle he was in was taken in Tyler. In Texas, suspects are not charged with motor vehicle theft because police cannot always prove the suspect took the vehicle.

Officers said they charged Wesson with the drug offenses because they allegedly found him in possession of 287 grams of methamphetamine worth $30,000 and a loaded pistol, police said.
