E. Kirk in Manhattan Jast Sunday MrR. Thompson accompanled her husband, who was speaker at a World Forum meeting on the college campus. When the organization was begun. Dr.

and Mrs. Thompson lived at Lawrence where Dr. Thompson, first university pastor at KU, was one of five university pastors of the Methodist church in the United States. Mrs. Thompson sought a way to interest university girls while she and Dr.

Thompson were "pioneering" in Wesley foundation work. Kappa Phi was the solution for a nucleus to bring coeds into church work The group was! formally organized in 1916, after a local group had been organized two years Dr. Thompson was asked by officials from Iowa State and Towa University for Information about the organization and in 1916 the group became Kappa Phi with Alpha chapter at KU. Iowa U. was Beta chapter and Iowa State Gamma.

Since then Minnesota became the fourth and Ohio State the fifth chapter and there are now 25 chapters in United States colleges and universities. Mrs. Thompson worked in the orgonization four years. The lea by lota chapter was. appointed in pink and white colors.
