Leo College club football team plays its home opener today when the Monarchs host Central Piedmont Community College in a 2 p.m. game. The Monarchs enter the Homecoming game with a 2-0 record claiming road victories over Duke (35-0) and Gallaudet College (24-0). new No. 1 team when the state 2-A football poll is released Tuesday morning. Top-ranked and unbeaten Lake Butler of Union County fell to third-ranked Wildowwod 6-5 here last night before a standing room only crowd of more than 5,00 persons. The ildwood defense staved off threat after threat throughout the evening to preserve the win for the unbeaten Wildcats. The home-standing Tigers had the ball for 61 plays to 34 for Wildwood but could not put the ball in the end zone.

The non-district game left Wild-wood with a 4-0 record while the Tigers now stand 4-1." Lake Butler struck first with 4:56 left in the first period when Sam Jackson kicked a 25-yard field goal to make it 3-0. Glen Kemp intercepted a Keith Jones pass on the Wildwood five to set up the field goal. Lake Butler was driven back to the nine on three running plays but Jackson came in and kicked the field goal. Wildwood capitalized on Lake Butler's first mistake just before the half to move ahead 6-3. Jody Powell pounced on a Fred White fumble on the Lake Buteler 33 to set things up.

The score came when Jones passed 31 yards to flanker Willie Mobley with 1:01 to intermission. The pass for the two-point conversion failed. With five minutes left in the game Wildwood took an intentional safety to make the score 6-5. Marlin got Hudson on the board first as he went one yard for a score in the second quarter. Mike Cahil ran the extra point across as the Cobras went ahead 8-0. Rick Cooper's 24 touchdown run with 1:52 left in the half sent Hudson ahead 14-0 at intermission. Marlin passed to Tony Scarpatti for a 53-yard TD as the Cobra lead went to 22-0 after Cooper ran the extra point across. Then Charlie Wagner got the Bucs started on a furious comeback with a one-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter that made the score 22-6.

After Gulf blocked a Hudson punt Louie Carfora went 40 yards for a score. The Bucs got their third score when Mike Helfrich went 27 yards with a fumble recovery. Helfrich intercepted a Cobra pass with two minutes left in the game and the Bucs got to the Cobra 40 before Joey Clark intercepted a pass and iced the game for the Cobras. Hudson is 2-0, Gulf 0-2. CRYSTAL RIVER (Special) -Mike Watkins and Mark Cappola accounted for all of the Crystal River points as the Pirates scored a 18-0 victory over Land O'Lakes.

Watkins made two touchdown runs for five yards in the first period and one yard in the final period. The former Tampa University quarterback will be "eased" into action, according to Dolphin Coach Don Shula, and might play some In San-day's game in Baltimore against the Colts. He said Solomon, also an exciting kick returner, would eventually be returned to special team duty. In the first three preseason games, Solomon caught six passes lor 13 yards and two touchdowns. Tallahassee Games Suffer Rain Outs TALLAHASSEE (Special) The heavy rains which have fallen on Florida's Capital City for the last three days forced postponement of most of Friday night's high school football games. As a result four Tallahassee teams will compete with college games and major league baseball today. City rivals Leon and Rickards, who have been trying to get in a game since Thursday night, are schedued to try again at 7 tonight. Lincoln High's Trojans play Perry's Taylor County High on the same field at 2 p.m while No. 1 ranked (Class A) FAMU High entertains Wakulla County at 8 at University.

The only game scheduled last night that was not cancelled was the one pitting Florida High against North Florida Christian. Rickards is trying to become the first Tallahassee team to ever beat Leon. And, the Redskins' chances were greatly enhanced last week when Lion quarterback Don Deloach was lost for the season with a broken ankle. Coach Gene Cox will move Greg Everhart from wide receiver to quarterback. The Lions are 4-0, Rickards 3-1.

Newherry Wallops Dunnellon 51-0 NEWBERRY (Special Newberry scored in every quarter to hand winless Dunnellon a 51-0 licking here last night. Alvin Neal scored two touchdowns and Mark Shore. Toronto Signs Doerr As Coach TORONTO (AP) Former Boston Red Sox great Bobby Doerr has been signed as a batting coach by the Toronto Blue Jays, the American League expansion club announced yesterday. Doerr, who spent 10 years as a batting instructor in the Red Sox or-ganizaton, will serve in the same capacity for the Blue Jays and their minor league teams. The Blue Jays also hired Bob Miller as pitching coach. Miller pitched for 10 major league teams from 1957 until 1974.
