While we mere there visited all oi :r.fe, ana were jsnip-iseti ai mm, bustle and business to be seen everywhere. Victoria has some beautiful Ho-ser gardens, but ber nv'al I Nursery, and tiic gardus sir-! riadiiig the residence of J. A. (i jiua'e are very beautiful, and every other place where a flower planted i a mavf-nt bloom and color.

'arserj' derives it name fro tbe extensive and well known I not aery located there d'rdonK, and now managed by J. Lloyd. It is tai4-'that the acreage in nylons alone on the farm' surrounding Nursery will roach itid since the recent rains have fallen, good crops are assured. A deal of cotton has been iu spite of all that has ti haul, and all that the boll ttccvil baa done against it. We spent a delightful half hour iu the office of Milea II.

Cook, the Nursery real estate man. Mr. Cook has done a large real estate buaineaa in the last two iu fact, ts the; only advertising real estate agent in the county. lie sold 5,50 acres of land around h'ursery Jaat year, and expect to tiansact much more business this year. (ierdejv giu has been Converted Into a nrit during the season that no cotton Is being brought in to be giuned, and we lound everything rushing there.

Home of the Nursery folks seem very tuncb interested iu the (Guadalupe Valley railway question, and many queries, concerning the coming road were put to us. Tho handsomest line of laces and embroideries over received in Vic toria is nov7 to be tovirA at A. 8. Levy's. Two geutlemen of Commerce, Tori, a havo rift on thet Ilnaini Men's association relative toes tablisuing a college at Victoria.

One of these gentlemen is a for- mer student pi tbe Normal school at Lebanon, 0 and if the school he would attempt to found here should be patterned after the schools at Lebannon, Valpa raiso, I Dixon, 111., and Shcn andoab, la, it is a school worth getting. ST. A. Thomson, who re sided in Victoria for years, re ceived his education at the Ohio school mentioned; so did W. A.

Lloyd, docejjonnected. with the Advocate, and now residing at Georgetown, and his friend and partner, John Hudson, for years superintendent of schools of Wil liamsou county, was also a atu- dent at the same school. There are many other former students of the institution residing in Texas, and then; are no states in the Union where they are not to be found. If the gentleman propos ing to come to Victoria is a rep- sen tative student of that school, as far as method and scholarship are concerned, he is intitlcd to consideration. Trom what we know of these schools and thc schools already established hi Victoria, a normal school of the kind relerred to would not find itself a competitor of any school here or in this section ol Texas.
