Ronald Crawford, son of Mrs: Ruth Crawford, has been granted an academic scholarship to attend Upper Iowa, College this fall. The award is made to students who show strong academic promise of doing good work at the college level and is one of several forms of financial aid On the Book Shelf The April Birthday Club has given Country Editor's Boy by Hal Borland to the Fayette Community library in memory of Mrs.

Johanna Harrison. Drawing on his own experience in Colorado from 1915 to 1918, Borland tells what it is like to grow up when the West was growing up. He recreates the frontier town where his father was a newspaper editor, where neighbors were friendly, where each man had a very real part in building his community. The tone is: peaceful, although the times were sometimes violent. Several new paintings have been placed in the library by the Northeast Iowa Art Association.

Weed Spraying Starts Today The Fayette county highway department has contracted with the Edwards Spraying and Construction. David Streeter is one of 114 outstanding high school students who will be admitted to Iowa State University with special recognition next fall. An accompanying award includes a $100 scholarship. The recognition and award are granted only to those who rank in the top of their high school class. Pamela Wilcox has earned a place on the President's List on the basis of her high point academic record at Blue Mountain College in Mississippi.
