LKIIASOX, March Thomas J. Powell, a voting farmer north of here, lias had. an eventful career within the past six months. The grand jury in- iticted him last September in three eases for arson, and in one for carrying concealed weapons. He was tried on two of the arson cases and was acquitted, while the third was dismissed.

Last Friday he was convicted of carrying concealed weapons. Powell was enraged over lie testimony of John Steph- euson. one of the prosecuting witnesses, and he 'iner him that evening at Elizaville aii'l assaulted him with "knuoks." Powell was afterward captured and is now in jail. He is known as a dangerous man. having been a- terror in tliQ community where he lives for several years.
