Well, speaking by and large, I think it is a good thing to send adolescent girls away from home to school because it takes care of that hobbledehoy period in which they are neither children nor women, but in which they think they are wiser than Solomon and more sophisticated than Mae West, while mother considers them mere toddling infants. It is a time that tries the souls of both, for it is one prolonged battle over clothes and dates and N-7V1 'i- WARNER'S KENOSHA, July 27 Willard Martin, 38, of 5939 Seventh avenue, a construction worker at the Nash plant, presented to veteran police first aid experts a new problem Saturday morning. He was injured when a cement mixing hopper collapsed against his right leg.

But if she is one of the girls whom men flock around as bees around a honeypot, it is foolish for her parents to sacrifice themselves to give her what we call educational advantages.

First, on whether the girl is college material. The fact that Janey clamors to be sent to college is no indication that she thirsts for knowledge. Half the time she wants to go only because she thinks it is the smart thing to do, and because the girls she runs with are going, and because she has heard alluring tales of dor- mitory frolics, and not because she has any designs whatever upon the higher education.

And she will come out just as innocent of culture as she went in. Unfortunately, parents are rarely able to distinguish their geese from geniuses, but before they invest many of their hard-earned dollars in a college course for Janey they will do well to take her school reports into consideration; and also try to recall whether they had to scourge her to her homework, or whether she leaped at it and got more thrill out of working out a problem in geometry than she did out of going to the movies. If there is plenty of money, by all means let Janey go if, she wants too, whether she is highbrow or lowbrow. It disposes ojt her, as has been said, during te stormy adolescent years and makes for peace in the household. It is just one of the luxuries in which her rich family can afford to indulge. The fish markets have been opened again, but this time by United States citizens. The change brought benefits, including the clean-up of premises and repainting in many cases. There are still boats to see although jnany have been taken over by the navy and fishermen working on their nets and lines. Boats are pulled up at the machine shop to be overhauled. Anchors are laid aside to get rusty and old hulls remain in storage that the owners hope to sell some day.
