dent and treasurer of the S. H. Hines, Undertaking establishment, died yesterday at his residence, 2903 14th street northwest, following tan illness of about three months. Mr. Hines was born in Windsor, October 9, 1859.

He was the first baby to be born in that town, He devoted his entire life to the undertaking business, Arst establishing an office in Nortolk, Va. Coming to this city in the early seventies, Mr. Hines established the present company in 1873. which is. located at 2901-2903' 14th street.

Greatly interested in fraternal ganizations, Mr. Hines during his lifetime became affiliated with many, serving in each with active interest and support. He was a member of William R. Singleton Lodge, No. 30, V.

A. A. Columbia Chapter, No. 1, Royal Arch Masons: Columbia Commandery, Knights Templar; 32d degree Scottish Rite Masons, Royal Order of Scotland; Almas Temple, A. A.

0. N. M. Shrine: Independent Order of Odd Fellows. Red Men and Maccabees.

He was also one of the original members of Immanuel Baptist Church. Mr. Hines was also an active member of the Board of Trade and the Washington Chamber of Commerce. 'Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock at his residence, conducted by Rev. Dr.

G. G. Johnson, pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church. Rose Croix service and Blue service will be held at the grave VOLE Rock Creek cemetery. Surviving him are his wife.

Hines; two daughters, Mrs. Marion L. Johnson and Sirs. Louise A. Hall, and two brothers, Thomas Hines of Suffolk, and John Hines of Windsor, the others being residents of this city.
