FBIE LU5CH WITH K0TALTT. Bebloc Kay 3a New Tork Trtbune: Binoa the visit of King Humbert to Berlin, no stories are so acceptable to tha German press as those relating to the popular monarch of Italy. Columns upon columns hare been written about lum. Hia friendship for th lata Emperor Frederick, which was reai. Indeed, and his manner of greeting prince and peasant alike, hava endeared him to the German heart A charactoriatio anecdote, illuatratira of hia' free and easy way, waa related ia tha TageblaU by a dru rumor, or, as ha ia called here, "oommla tot-ageur." Traveling In Italy a few years ago.

the drummer became, aa often happens to members of tha Teutonic race, extremely thirsty. His flask waa empty and the station restaurant were without wine or beer. After trying in Tain at several places, the train stopped finally at a little village where the awttonmaator waa ready to aucply him with beer. However, just as it was handed to bun th bell waa sounded announcing tha departure of the train, and without waiting to quench his thirst, tha drummed sprang; into the lioarest compartment "Great I lea venal are yon tue oevui" waa tne greeting wnion no received from an officer who sat on the aofa in the beautifully furnished car. Tbia ia bia Majesty's ear; bow dare yon enter here?" Before tha German could reply the curtains of an adioiu-iug compartment were opened and King Hum bert presented himself and asked the causa of the visit The drommor told hia story and apologised for hia rudeness, which the King at ouee excused, and besides invited tbe drummer to join him in his private compartment.

where bia thirst was soon quenched witn royal wiue. He spent several hours conversing with his Majesty, who questioned him minutely about his business in Italy and even asked to see hia "samples." At Rome tha King bade tha drummer farewell, wishing him auooesa, but regretting that poor Italy was not able to manufacture its own goods "and dispense even with M.V Wft w. REAL ESTATE.
