"I believe abortion is wrong and support the clinic," he said as he cheered friends struggling to finish the race.

LifeLine, which has provided free pregnancy testing, referrals to doctors for prenatal care, counseling, monetary aid and shelter to indigent pregnant women for 20 years, explains the medical aspects of abortion but encourages patients to opt for birth. LifeLine offers a number 296-0877 for those who think they might need the clinic's services. The care LifeLine offers may have spurred many of the nearly 300 runners who donned the sweats and T-shirts, but for 10-year-old Amaris Weitzman, the sheer love of running was plenty incentive. "I want to go to the Olympics," she said with a huge grin after being the second woman overall to finish the race. Saturday's run was a family affair for the Weitzman clan.

Amaris's mother, Iris, ran a good race as well, and her 2'A -year-old nephew, Brandon Caro, was to represent them in the "Diaper Dash." the diaper dash gave kids 3-years-old and younger a chance to race to glory in the 50-yard dash north of the baseball fields in Valencia Meadows Park. By MIKE KLINGBEIL Signal staff writer VALENCIA For many exercise buffs, Saturday's morning run carried a message beyond the nor-, mal aching and sore muscles that comes with hitting the pavement. It symbolized a commitment toward helping indigent pregnant women. Elaine Bingham, the director of LifeLine Pregnancy Center Hotline, is optimistic that 53,000 to $4,000 willbe raised from Saturday's 5K run that began at Valencia Meadows Park. i The money is sorely needed, she said, to provide shelter and financial assistance to the pregnant wo-men who turn to the Santa Clarita center.

"People don't realize how many arc in need," Bingham said. The course, described by many in the 3.2 mile-race as being "rough hilly," began and ended at the intersection of Fedala Road and Calle Arbor, and took runners up to Parkway to Rockwell Canyon Road and several streets in between. Dave Stromberg, who runs four to five miles a day, said the course posed a bit of a challenge, but the $18 he paid to push himself to the limit was worth it. "I believe in the cause," Stromberg, a Valencia resident, said of the LifeLine pregnancy center.
