Frostburg Plan Full Time Police Service VFW Post Granted Lease! Citizens or Frostburg, a Legion official pointed out today, have been compelled from the time the school was opened here to put up a fight to secure sufficient funds to maintain the institution and to provide for the construction of bulldings now on the campus. Buildings include the administration building, opened in 1902; sclence completed in 1912; residence hall, completed in 1914; addition to residence hall, completed in 1924; the buildings containing the auditorium and gymnasium and heating plant, completed in 1928,, and the newest building, the college clementary school, completed in 1934. In addition to this group of buildings, the college has combined campus and athletic field with an area of acres. The portion of the campus used as an athletic field was acquired as WPA project. The land was formerly the site of 4 large number of homes of local negro residents who were moved out of the area during 1935 and 1936, after the state acquired title to the property.

One of the most spectacular fights in the interest of the college was made by William A. Gunter, durIng his term of office as state tor, when he had the entire General Assembly of Maryland adjourn for day and come to Frostburg in 1929 to make an inspection of the college and reach a decision on the proposed closing of Oak street, which at that time divided the college buildings from the present athletic members of the the street, General "Assembly voted to close Members of the American Legion and other local groups bave written to the Secretary of State for copies of the report of the Maryland Commission on Higher Education containing comments concerning the college. Virginia Priest Dies In Arkansas FAIRMONT, W. Feb. 5-The Very Rev. Mathias Buchheit. pastor of St.

Peter's Roman Catholic Church in Patrimont, W. dean of the Fairmont area of the Wheeling Diocese, died January 29 in St. Anthony's Hospital in ton, Arkansas, his home city. In ill health for many months, the Very Rev. Father Buchheit had been a patient in Wheeling hospital for a number of weeks, but covered sufficiently to return to St.

Peter's at Christinas time where he participated in the festival services. Recently, accompanied by the assistant pastor of St. Peter's Church, the Rev. George Kuhn, he left to visit his formeras home, Morrilton, Arkansas. 77.

The Very Rev. Mathias Buchhelt was, 11, born 1869, in and Limbach, was brought Germany, to this country as a child. He began his preparatory studies for the Roman Catholic priesthood at Holy Ghost College, Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, and compieted his philosophical studies at Notre Dame de. Langonnet, France. Ordained to the priesthood on Alfred March 18, 1899, by the Most Rev.

and subsequently filled assignments in the following places: Meadow Bluff and St. Clara, W. Wytheville, St. Joseph's Settlement, Weston, and Fairmont. He served the church at St.

Joseph's Settlement for nearly 20 years, prior to being transferred to Weston. He had been pastor of St. Peter's Church in Fairmont since 1935. Rev. Father Buchheit is survived by a brother, residing in Morrilton, and a sister, who is a member of the Benedictine Order of Nuns.
