FREE SHOWS FOR CHILDREN. Society Organizes to Give Moving Pictures in Churches. Many children from the Washington Square n'elgf borhoi4 enjoyed a frea piovlng-pictirf exhibit at the Old First PresbyterlanlChurch. Fifth Avenue and Twelfth StrJt, lust right At the Invitation of Oevelund Moffett. who took an active piirt In the organisation of the Church Knt.erlalnment Society to give moving-picture entertainments for the needy In Near Tork churches, a number of social worker attended the exhibition and held a meeting In tha chapel afterward.

Mr. Moffett explained the plan upon which It la proposed the Church Entertainment Society shall work. There were enough churches idle In New Tork on certain niglita of the week, he said, to entertain l.tmo.ono poor children. The society, he said, was non-acctarlan, and was nrgfttilxod to start a movement to have neighborhood groups of churches of different denominations unite In entertaining the children and keeping them off the streets. Among the patrons of the new society, he said, were Dr.

Howard Duffield. Mrs. John II. Flagler. Dr.

Percy K. Grant. Mrs. Mai 8. Thomas, and Paul Polndexter.

Last night's entertainment waa meant to be of educational value to the children. The which showed scenes In this country and Canada, were accompanied by organ and choir music. It waa generally agreed that the plan would be of great benefit to children. and one of the social workers attending' the meeting suggested that an attempt also ban made to secure the use of armories for the same purpose.
