A down east Yankee born in Siberia, Mrs. Dunn has lived most of her life in the Far East. Her education started in Vladivostok. It was continued at the Shanghai American school and completed at the University of New Hampshire.

Upon being graduated she took a trip to Shanghai, where she met and married Dr. Thomas Dunn. Since then she has lived there with vacations in Japan and North China, Europe and America. Caught in Shanghai at the beginning of the Pacific war, she was separated" from her husbimd in November of 1942 when the gendarmes took him to a special prison camp at Haiphong Road. From then on she saw him only twice for ten minute periods.

In March of 1943, she with her 78 year old mother, sixteen year old daughter, and two and a half year -old twins was interned in the Chapei Civilian Assembly center, in what remained of the Great China University bombed in 1937.
