19. Government agencies, the Red Cross, and the American Legion, will begin work in Florida on August 22. in their clean-up campaign to cut the red tape that has prevented thousands of disabled veterans from receiving the aid that the government Is glad to give, and has retarded the adjustment of hundred of claims of others who were in the service during the world war. The clean-up squad, composed of experts from the bureau of war ri3k insurance, the bureau of vocational education and workers familiar with every detail of ways and means of obtaining medical and dental treatment and hospitalization, have but one purpose and that purpose is to get in touch with every veteran and start the machinery to get for them a quick and satisfactory adjustment of their affairs. Jacksonville has been selected as the starting point of the squad.

Charles Button, salesman: It's just about a toss-up now. The two teams must be pretty nearly equally matched to stay so close together in the race. The breaks in the luck, one way or the other, will probably decide. Harry Wellacott, clerk: No, I don't think the Yankees will win. Cleveland was good enough to beat them last year, and is playing championship ball right now.

Many Teachers To Return To Schools Washington, Aug. 19. (Capital News Service). Reports to the effect as many as 60,000 former school teachers, most of whom gave up their calling for the purpose of participating in war work of some character, are now ready to resume their old duties is taken to mean the little red schoolhouses as well as the city schools will not longer suffer from a shortage of instructors. This return to school teaching has been aided to a great extent by the action of the executive departments and bureaus and commissions in Washington in dismissing thousands of war workers, A surprising percentage of those who came to Washington for work of a clerical character during the war were teachers.

This renewed interest in the public sshools, which means a ne.v -vigor and devotion to their work on the part of the teachers, is certain. In the opinion of school executives, federal, state and local, to result in good for the cause of education. At each of these centers from one to six counties will be covered and in this way, workers will reach every township in Florida before, the close of the campaign. The plan of campaign Is simple. Tt contemplates giving each veteran the opportunity to have his difficulties of compensation and vocational training and medical treatment straightened out right at home, instead of through lengthy long distance correspondence. At the same lime the squad will give every veteran a chance to find out whether he has a clilm, and if lie has, to file it for him so that he will get immediate results. Obviously, the biggest problem in the campaign Is getting in touci with the veterans, particularly M-ose wb" live In outlying Communities.
