Charles Lane, former Tampa policeman, met his death by parties unknown to members of the coroner's jury, so declared a verdict rendered by that investigating body yesterday. The jury was impanelled a week ago, yesterday, but withheld its decision pending efforts on the part of county officers to secure evidence. County officers admitted yesterday they had no evidence that would throw any light on the parties committing the murder or the motive. The body of Lane was found in a clump of bushes near Tampa on March 3. Examination revealed that the skull had been crushed and two bullet wounds probably caused his death.
