5732 Hester, biiiso w. iiorooin. ivs0 a. FUND. aSl5.000 FROM THE BRITISH FARMERS.

A further gift of 15,000 comes toKiay, from the British Farmers' Red Cross Fund and is added 'to The Times Fund on behalf of tho British Red'Cross Society and tho Order of St John. This handsome gift is to be expended on recreation hutg for sick and wounded at home and abroad. There are, of course, many hospitals which provide within "their own walls practically every kind of recreation which the patients can enjoy. But there are also a great many, especially in outlying districts with less facilities, where the'pr6vision and maintenance of these huts will bo not only an additional but an important factor in promoting recovery. The Farmers' Fund, under Mr.

Herbert Brown, has a doublo excellence it is unfailing in its liberal support of the Red Cross organization and its promoters are particularly enterprising in discovering special objects for endowment; To day we defer the acknowledgment of many generous contributions to the. General Fund in order to continuo the acknowledgment of tho Church collections taken on the Day of Intercession. We give a large instalment of the second list, amounting to 2.218 Is. 4d. The fund therefore is increased to day by 17,218 Is.

and now amounts 'to 3,440,546 12s. Id. Subscriptions ishould be sent to the Chairman of the Joint Finance Committee. Sir Robert Hudson, at 83, Pall mall. S.W., cheques being drawn to the Joint Committee, and crossed Bank of England: not negotiable." LIST No.
