Irk THE TAMPA-TRIBUXE-TIMES, Sunday, July 1972 NEWSMAKERS Cool Air Leaves East And South FL0RIDA7WEAT NATIONAL I uiTinuil ur artCD CPDl'fF ifMvilllliiAi iONAR NOAA, U.S. Dept. of commerce II 111 tsk a. a. 70 7n By The Associated Press A cool air mass remained anchored yesterday over the Atlantic and southeastern states.

For the last four days the huge air pocket has produced season record low temperatures in parts of the East. A warm up, however, is starting. After records were set early yesterday morning in parts of 12 states from Wisconsin and Arkansas to the Virginias and Florida, the sun boosted readings into the 70s and low 80s. Scattered thunderstorms developed from eastern Texas to Minnesota and western Wisconsin. Thundershowers hit the southern part of Florida.

Rain spread across western and central Washington and the Oregon coastal area. Afternoon temperatures ranged from 54 at Du-luth, to 106 at Blythe, Calif. Spassky-Fischer Chess Match Gets NewReferee From Tribune Wires LOTHAR SCHMID, the referee of the Spassky-Fischer championship chess match, will not be able to officiate at the first game in Iceland on Tuesday. Schmid today flew to his home in Bamberg, Germany, upon receiving news that his 10-year-old son had been injured in a bicycle accident. The injury was reported not serious.

The assistant referee, Gudmundur Arnlaugsson of Iceland, will replace Schmid, who expects to be here for the second game on Thursday. Birgitte van Deurs, an attractive 25-year-old blonde Danish secretary, married Prince Richard of Gloucester yesterday and became a royal princess in line for the throne. The ceremony was in the 13th century Church of St. Andrew in Barnwell, England. Prince Richard is a cousin of Queen Elizabeth and 10th in line of succession to the throne.

It was a royal wedding but all the pomp and pagentry of a state occasion was absent from the rural peace surrounding the old rose-covered stone cottages with thatched roofs nestling round the church. LOWELL ELLIOTT, of Peru, who found $500,000 in hijacking ransom money in a soybean field, apparently has gone into seclusion. Elliott, 64, found the bag of money, dropped by the skyjacker when he jumped, in a field south of Peru on June 26 and turned it over to the FBI intact. The FBI four days later arrested suspect in connection with the hijack. American Airlines offered Elliott and his family an expense-paid trip to Hawaii as a reward for finding the money.

But Elliott said he would rather have cash. S. P. Fay, the airline's Indianapolis manager, returned the next day with a check for $10,000, but Elliott turned that down, too, saying he thought he should get at least $25,000. Newsmen have been trying unsuccessfully to contact Elliott all week to see if he has had any second thoughts about the matter.
