The match between Fischer, 29, and Spassky originally was to have begun at 5 p.m. (1 p.m. EDT) yesterday in a Reykjavik theater especially outfitted to suit the demands of both players. Spassky arrived early last week.

REYKJAVIK, Iceland (LTD Bobby Fischer failed to appear for the opening game in his world championship chess match with Boris Spassky of the Soviet Union yesterday, but the match was postponed for two days to give the American challenger one more chance to play. "The simplest and maybe correct way to deal with this would be to disqualify Fischer from championship play," Dr. Max Euwe, presient of the International Chess Federation (FIDE), said in announcing the postponement. Some say they will back no presidential candidate financially if McGa-vern is the Democratic nominee.

Others say they wiH shift their support to Presw dent Nixon. -J THE TERM "McGoveS-nomics" is frequently used ih a jocular sense to describe McGovern's policies for income redistribution, welfarfc reform and changes in the nation's tax structure. The word crops up repeatedly in investment advisory reports issued by brokerage houses. The increasing probability in the last month that the senator would win his party's presidential nomination at the convention is widely believed to have been one factor in the stock market's recent' weakness. Past contributors to liberal candidates have in some cases indicated they now will help finance the President's campaign. IN OTHER POLITICAL DEVELOPMENTS: Richard E. "The main significance of a platform is its use before it is completed, not after" in unifying different sides toward a common goal, Neustadt said, On NBC's "Meet the Press." The suit also asks that Convention chairman Lawrence O'Brien bar the seating of delegates who were not elected by the voters in the California primary. This would invalidate the action by the Credentials Committee Thursday which required that the 271 delegates be divided on a proportional basis with each presidential candidate getting the number of delegates equal to his share of the vote. MCGOVERN WOULD be left with 120 delegates and Sen. Hubert II.

Humphrey, would pick up 106 delegates if the committee's decision stands. It is subject to a vote by the full convention. McGovern acted yesterday to widen his support among Democratic regulars by confirming his choice of O'Brien to remain as head of the Democratic National Committee. And he announced he'll seek a fence-mending session this week with AFL-CIO president George Meany. But the South Dakota senator and leading contender for the Democratic presidential nomination would not close the door on the possibility he will refuse to support the nominee if he is someone other than himself.

The accord appeared to be a stepback from the Indian position seeking a package solution to the dispute between the two countries. In another development, Bhutto warned Prime Minister Mujibur Rahman yesterday against putting Pakistani prisoners of war on trial as war criminals. But Sheik Mujib told a public rally his government was determined to try some of the POWs, now detained in India, and said it would not be influenced by the decision of any conference. NO DATE was mentioned for the next summit, which probably would take place in Pakistan. Officials said the agreement would lead to a "durable peace" between the two hostile neighbors, who have fought four wars since 1947, when Pakistan was carved out of British India and granted independence.
